Reviews
Our server, Lauren, was superb, guiding us through their menu and helping us make excellent choices. Our dinner salad was great. My Salmon dish was incredible, sitting on a bed of tasty wild rice, and topped with delicious vegetables. Banana Cream pie for dessert.
We got lucky and visited early (without reservations) on a Saturday, because it filled up completely before our meal was over.
Strong recommendation – we will visit again.
Cinnamon bun- They are known for their cinnamon bun. This dessert is offered as an appetizer and it’s huge. You literally can share this with another person. I like the fact the frosting wasn’t overly sweet. The cinnamon bun was warm and chewy but not doughy. Some may like it more drier but I prefer it how Rye makes it.
Shrimp and grits- Nice serving size.. Grits were creamy and plenty of shrimp. Only issue for me was the sauce, it tasted more like a watered down bbq sauce. That flavor was off putting to me.
Chicken fried steak- This entree can easily feed two people. The steak was fried perfectly and seasoned well. I would suggest though, use mashed potatoes that are not instant potatoes. The instant potatoes blended too much into the gravy and you couldn’t tell them apart.
Smoked short rib hash- This dish had so much potential but it fell short due to the blandness of the flavor. To me the only flavor that stood out was lemon. But from what I read of the description of the dish. There is no lemon, so why did it have a sour (lemon) undertone flavor?
Cocktails- Amazing
On the positive side, the cinnamon bun was delicious and honestly the highlight of our visit. However, the main course was very disappointing. I ordered the chicken and toast, which had no seasoning at all, and the toast itself was undercooked. For the price and the atmosphere they’re going for, I expected much better quality.
Sadly, this is not a place I’d recommend or plan to revisit. If you’re looking for a good breakfast, I’d suggest going to snooze down the road instead.
