Wow, so good. Loved everything about this place, from its location on the edge of Country Club Plaza, elite customer service, gorgeous interior, fun menu, and superb food.

Our server, Lauren, was superb, guiding us through their menu and helping us make excellent choices. Our dinner salad was great. My Salmon dish was incredible, sitting on a bed of tasty wild rice, and topped with delicious vegetables. Banana Cream pie for dessert.

We got lucky and visited early (without reservations) on a Saturday, because it filled up completely before our meal was over.

Strong recommendation – we will visit again.

Rye Plaza was a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. The restaurant has a warm, stylish atmosphere and the service was absolutely brilliant—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food was excellent with huge portions, and the pork chop in particular is a must-try: perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. Dessert was incredible and worth saving room for. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Plaza area—great food, great service, and a really enjoyable night out!

This gem is worth a visit if you’re in Kansas City! They take comfort food to a whole other level that will leave your tastes buds happy and your stomach full. I couldn’t get enough of the chicken and dumplings, which paired deliciously with their spritz. Staff could people more friendly, but overall the experience was good.

Party of 7 for lunch. Everyone was delighted with their meals, but a bit disappointed they had initially took our orders from the wrong menus on the table and thought we were ordering from the brunch menu at first. They apologized, gave us the correct menus, and we still had amazing cocktails (delicious bloody Mary and espresso martinis), lunch dishes, and a very attentive server. 9/10 recommend!

On a Saturday afternoon this place is buzzing with people. Just when you think it’s too crowded, you realize when you’re seated. That you don’t have that crowded because the restaurant is quite spacious. I totally enjoyed the vibe, and the great service from Kate.

Cinnamon bun- They are known for their cinnamon bun. This dessert is offered as an appetizer and it’s huge. You literally can share this with another person. I like the fact the frosting wasn’t overly sweet. The cinnamon bun was warm and chewy but not doughy. Some may like it more drier but I prefer it how Rye makes it.

Shrimp and grits- Nice serving size.. Grits were creamy and plenty of shrimp. Only issue for me was the sauce, it tasted more like a watered down bbq sauce. That flavor was off putting to me.

Chicken fried steak- This entree can easily feed two people. The steak was fried perfectly and seasoned well. I would suggest though, use mashed potatoes that are not instant potatoes. The instant potatoes blended too much into the gravy and you couldn’t tell them apart.

Smoked short rib hash- This dish had so much potential but it fell short due to the blandness of the flavor. To me the only flavor that stood out was lemon. But from what I read of the description of the dish. There is no lemon, so why did it have a sour (lemon) undertone flavor?

Cocktails- Amazing

Rye is a great spot to eat in the Plaza Area with delicious meals using fresh ingredients. The chicken was great, and pimento cheese dip was a definite win.

My fiancé and I were excited to try this spot, but unfortunately the experience fell short. It took about 12–15 minutes before our server even greeted us, which set a poor tone from the start. The water tasted off (not what I’d expect from a place that presents itself as more upscale), and when my coffee arrived, the cup looked dirty—which I’ve included photos of.

On the positive side, the cinnamon bun was delicious and honestly the highlight of our visit. However, the main course was very disappointing. I ordered the chicken and toast, which had no seasoning at all, and the toast itself was undercooked. For the price and the atmosphere they’re going for, I expected much better quality.

Sadly, this is not a place I’d recommend or plan to revisit. If you’re looking for a good breakfast, I’d suggest going to snooze down the road instead.

Service was oddly slow and the bartender would disappear for extended periods of time. I’d also prefer he didn’t use his finger to hold back the ice cube when pouring out water from the glass. Fried chicken came out quick but was dry unfortunately.
