Rx Chicken and Oysters is a neighborhood farm and sea to table restaurant farming our own “Lucy Bea” oysters and catching/spearing our own fish, including the invasive but delicious lionfish. We serve exclusively N.C. seafood and focus on local chicken, pork, beef and vegetables. All breads, pastries, desserts, etc are made in house. We have a full bar featuring craft cocktails, wine and beer. We offer 1/2 price wine on Tuesdays and 1/2 price oysters on the half shell Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 5-6pm.
Relaxed eatery in a converted drugstore featuring seasonal changing menus with local sourcing.

This was my first visit to Rx Chicken and Oysters since they reopened with a more casual dining concept. While the original Rx leaned toward a fine-dining experience, the new approach feels relaxed and inviting without sacrificing quality. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the food was outstanding across the board, and our waitress was truly exceptional. I would highly recommend the Lucy Bea oysters and the blueberry hand pie for dessert. We had a wonderful time and will absolutely be back.

We took some friends to RX Chicken & Oysters last night. Our first time there as well as theirs. Lily was our waitress and was excellent. She made recommendations and told us her favorites. We have Oysters Rockefeller, Fried Oysters, Crab Cakes, Blueberry Hand Pie and Dark Chocolate Brownie. The food was excellent. We will be back!

Hiddem gem in Wilmington! As a pharmacist, I was initially intrigued since this restaurant used to be a pharmacy (although the decor & inside is not pharmacy themed) but we decided to try it based on the food options. Our waitress was friendly & knowledgeable. We aren’t big seafood eaters so she took the time to explain the catch-of-the-day options. We had never heard of lionfish (see pictures for a sculpture of this spiky fish) but my husband decided to try it. And it ended up being his favorite meal of the whole trip! It’s a little pricey, but you can taste the quality & freshness of the food. Everything was delicious & well-prepared. Highly recommend trying a dessert served with their soft-serve ice cream. Just a few blocks from downtown, its hidden on a residential street but definitely worth a visit

Deviled eggs had too much filling and mustard taste. Oysters were over-seasoned with spinach and not all the way full. Fish fresh catch was amazing. Chicken was ok nothing special.

After a dud of a seafood meal the previous night, we were looking for a redemption meal. We found it at Rx Chicken & Oysters! The food is sustainable, locally sourced, and outstanding! Many places tout the “sea to table,” but few actually give you food that truly tastes like It. Rx wrote the book on it! We had the spiny lobster tail hush puppies, skillet corn bread, grouper with spiny lobster tail rice and heirloom tomato reduction, grunt with grits, seasonal vegetables and citrus and herb butter, brownie with soft serve, and blueberry cobbler. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly! The fish had amazing flavor and the crust was just right. The tomato reduction had incredible flavor! The grits were delicious – a tasty nod to southern culture and paired with the fish nicely. Start to finish, the food was amazing and well worth the drive! If you’re looking for truly fresh, local seafood, visit Rx!

We were on vacation and decided to try this restaurant because our adult son was craving raw oysters. The atmosphere is cool/eclectic and welcoming. If I had 1 complaint it was that it was very loud in there. We were there on a Friday night and the restaurant was packed so I didn’t mind at all but if you are going for a quiet dinner, maybe go on a weeknight We had a reservation so we were seated immediately. Our server came to our table promptly to take our drink orders. I ordered the cocktail that was a special that night and it was blueberry simple syrup with elderflower liqueur and proseco. It was delicious and refreshing without being overly strong or sweet. For appetizers we got blue crab dip for my husband and I to share and our adult son got the Lucy Bea oysters. He said they were the best oysters he has ever had, very fresh and clean tasting with the flavor of the sea. They were fantastic. Our dinners were super good with my husband getting the shrimp and grits which was rich and decadent. I got the 1/2 fried chicken which was so crunchy and dark with flavor but moist and juicy on the inside. My sides were mac&cheese and small delicious flaky buttery biscuits. Our son got the chili cheeseburger. All of the food was delicious. I’m sure the fresh caught fish is great but we are not big seafood eaters. Our desserts were fabulous too. My husband and I split the bread pudding which had large crusty/crispy bread chunks which were tender on the inside and had a caramel and whipped cream Our son got the blueberry cobbler with soft serve ice cream. They were both so amazing! I would never hesitate to come and enjoy the food again the next time we are in Wilmington!

Took the Fam out for a special dinner at RX, our Fav spot on Castle Street, and our server, Jack, made the evening special, fun and so comfortable. The Kids all had the Fried Chicken that is so special and delicious. No one else makes it near as good. I had the Red Drum,as recommended by Jack and it was amazing. We’ll be back soon and I’ll be asking for Jack to be our server again

Small restaurant on Castle Street. Street parking only here. Met a friend group here, and the restaurant is neat, lots of artwork on the walls.
The service was excellent and the staff was really nice. We had three items off the menu. The biscuits, pimento cheese, and ham “snack” was excellent. The pork chops with sweet potatoes was good but the mac & cheese was… odd. Had a very odd flavor, maybe earthy? Idk if they put like truffle or something in it… very strange. We had the strawberry cobbler and while it was ok, it also wasn’t great. So for the cost, we didn’t find the food to be bad by any means, but it wasn’t exceptional either.
Overall, the restaurant was clean and we enjoyed the meal and we would probably try it again at some point.
