The seafood gumbo was hearty and full of flavor, the seafood tip was excellent, and while the crab bisque was out, everything else more than made up for it. The wings were a hit, the Shrimp & Crawfish Etouffee was absolutely delicious, and the red beans and rice were a perfect staple. The Shrimp & Sausage Creole was packed with flavor, and the fresh made beignets were light, fluffy, and the perfect ending.
We also got to meet the owner, who was super friendly and shared that many of the dishes are based on his mom’s recipes with his own twist. The restaurant itself is very inviting, with a clean and stylish interior that feels like a little taste of New Orleans. The entire place was spotless, including the restrooms, which is a detail that really adds to the dining experience. Even the silverware and plates were pristine. We should have taken more photos of the food, but after a 7 mile ride we were too hungry to wait.
All in all, Ruth’s Creole Kitchen delivers authentic Creole comfort food in a welcoming and very clean setting. We will definitely be back — probably sooner than we should. 😛
Highly recommend!
I traveled over 500 miles just to bring my family to Ruth’s Creole Kitchen for a special family dinner — and it was so worth it! There were 10 of us, and from the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel right at home. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and professional, and the even chef came out to greet us personally — such a thoughtful touch!
Now, the food… simply unforgettable. The étouffée, catfish, lobster pasta, mac n’ cheese, and gumbo were all bursting with flavor. Every single dish was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. You can taste the love and authenticity in every bite.
My family and I had the most amazing dinner experience — laughter, full plates, and full hearts. If you haven’t been to Ruth’s Creole Kitchen yet, do yourself a favor and go. It’s a true gem, and we can’t wait to come back! We didn’t take pictures of our dinner. I forgot about that throughout our excitement, but I would like to include that Ruth’s Creole Kitchen also have an amazing brunch as well!!!
We enjoyed an amazing seafood dip & toast appetizer, followed by the finest seafood gumbo & delicious seasoned Cajun crackers I’d tasted since living in the Crescent City itself. Honestly, even after my incredible dinner, I didn’t want to leave. It just all felt THAT wonderful!
There are a number of restaurants in the OKC area which offer Creole & Cajun cuisine–but none of them, until today, tasted “just right.”
That’s because Chef Reuben & his Team add the purely genuine New Orleans Ingredient that none of the other restaurants offer: Love. Love of Life. Love for the City we once called Home. Love for the art of cooking & caring for the Souls you feed. Love for making every day joyful & every new face a friend. Love for experiencing the best possible moments & feeling the satisfaction they bring.
So, what are y’all waiting for?? Go feed your Soul at Ruth’s Creole Kitchen!!! I’m so happy that I did, because it really is the BEST!!
I guess we showed up on a bad day.
The service was extremely slow – this was due to the team being short-staffed. Not necessarily the team’s fault, but we found ourselves frequently waiting for water refills and getting our order taken.
We started with the seafood dip and crab cakes. The dip was really oily, claimed to have veggies in it, which didn’t find any, and overall was okay, but not great. This recipe needs to be tweaked, or maybe it was an off day in the kitchen (which was also understaffed according to our server).
The crab cakes were actually really good. They are small, and a bit pricey, but good.
We ordered gumbo and crab bisque, but only when they brought my gumbo out did they mention to my friend they were out of bisque and he would need to order something else. This was frustrating. We had intended to enjoy our meal coursed out, and now I’m eating my 2nd course alone while my friend watches.
We then ordered the lobster Mac & cheese, the Cajun wrap, and the muffuletta.
Well, the lobster Mac was not available and was now a seafood pasta with a cream sauce – this was pretty good.
The Cajun wrap looks like something I’d whip up in my kitchen with leftovers, after smoking too much weed. Rice and sausage in a tortilla with cheese melted on top.
And the muffuletta- the olive tamponade was great, but they used a hamburger bun, and this felt like an Italian sandwich, not a legit muffuletta.
The worst part of all, I was never offered any hot sauce. Where’s the Crystals or Louisiana at? This is a Cajun place, hot sauce is a staple and it should be on the table or offered. (Again, they were understaffed.)
This place has been open almost a year and they are still working on a liquor license, so don’t expect any NOLA cocktails. No, you may not order a Sazerac, Ramos Gin Fizz, or a Hurricane. 🙁
I appreciate what they are trying to do, I understand it’s difficult opening a new restaurant, maintaining staff, etc… I would expect the owners to be here, all on hands on deck in this scenario. Instead you have an overworked crew of 4 trying their best and dropping the ball at almost every step of the dining experience. (to no fault of their own – this falls on the shoulders of leadership).
I’d love to come back and give this place a 2nd chance, but if I can’t trust what’s on the menu, or am worried it will take another 1.5 hours to eat (long wait times to take our order and receive food), I doubt I will.
These experiences are another reason why people are dining out less. The prices don’t match the food, service, or experience.
Low-key wished we had gone down the street to a similar style restaurant.
I hate to say this and am not trying to disparage the place. But I challenge ownership/leadership to take this constructively and do better!
And again, the staff was doing their best – this all falls back on the owners in my opinion.
