Was craving tacos for lunch, and decided to try this place out since I’ve tried just about every place in the area that sells tacos in the area. It’s a brand new restaurant, so I was not sure what to expect when I showed up. Upon walking inside, I noticed that the decor and vibe was very nice. I was greeted with a smile by a very kind and helpful staff member who happily took my order and made sure that everything was right before I was asked to post. The food came out very fast and was handed to me with a smile. I ordered 3 tacos of which the #10 Fried Chicken (staff fav style) was by far my favorite. I will definitely be returning here in the near future.

We were warmly greeted and really enjoyed the service at Rusty Taco West. It’s set up like a beach taco shack and you order at the counter. Definitely a casual joint. A manager went out of her way to get my husband soda water from the pop machine. I was lucky to get in on the last day of the cauliflower tacos. If you like the occasional veg option, please join me in begging them to bring these back!

The pico tasted fresh, good cilantro, great pickled onion. All of the main meats and the breaded cauliflower we had were pre-packaged. I was hoping for some signature meat that was made in house.

We tried tacos: crispy cauliflower, steak fajita, chicken fajita, and bbq brisket nachos.

I wish they would have been more clear about what level of spicy items were. The bbq sauce in the nachos was at the top of my tolerance. Next time, I would get no sauce and add the super tasty mild tomatillo salsa. The pico had a lot of fresh jalapenos we picked out.

The tacos were all great, if assembled from Sysco items. The pico really made them sing.

The nachos though were a bummer. The chips were very crisp and there was a ton of meat, but they went downhill from there. They come with that arena fake cheese goop and shredded cheese. I asked for no “queso” and did not get any extra cheddar instead. And there was very little cheddar or pico or any toppings. Even rationing them out, we quickly ran out of toppings. We brought home half of the meat and chips plain. Then, some of our meat was ice cold, at best room temp. I would have expected nachos to have been melted under the salamander, but the cheddar was cold along with the meat. They should cut down the meat, increase the toppings, and make sure they are hot.

We were happy to have finally tried it but with so many amazing Mexican/taco places in town, probably won’t be in heavy rotation for us.

Chris and Mia rocked it out of the park! We asked them to pick the best 6 tacos and a margarita, they nailed it. Uptown, green street, and dynamite shrimp were our favorite! This store does a great job, will return!

Service was fast and friendly but the food was below average. Tortillas were soggy and the chicken tacos were filled with giant chunks of chicken completely throwing the texture off and making it hard to eat. Brisket was salty. The taste of the queso is unnervingly similar to corn chowder. Churros are not filled with chocolate like advertised online. Overall disappointing.

Absolute garbage. Tacos “Birria”?

This was after going back and returning the first order that looked exactly like this. The queso was like water, and the birria “sauce” was thick as mud. If you know, you know. That ain’t right…

Not to mention the chemical taste- My wife said I was crazy until she tasted on, and sure enough- Chemical, nasty taste left in her mouth.

I’ll never come back to this place. This was pure mushy, doughy hot trash.

Elkhorn location has gone down hill ever since the new owners took over.
Went tonight and got chicken tacos for my family and the meat was dark and very stringy. Inedible. The queso was cold. Very disappointed and will not be back.

These brisket nachos will define nachos for the rest of my life. We haven’t been to a Rusty Taco before. Mia, the bartender, made a great wild berry margaritas and explained the menu. We had a #8 [good, but not as good as nachos], a green street [amazing], and a #13 (standard but satisfying). Great place, friendly and efficient staff.

We live close to R taco and it used to be our easy button. WE LOVED this location when they first opened. The food was hot, fresh and consistently good. Now we eat here sparingly. This locations tables are beat up outside and broken. We’ve had to had food remade on more than one trip and we’ve even reached out to management before posting a review about how things have gone downhill. Long story short- the food is now edible but usually cold and not what it used to be. R Taco is generally awesome, Just not this location which is a bummer for how close we live.

Working next to the Rusty Taco it goes under my nose, but today I decided to take a sniff. Staff is as friendly as can be, while the food goes unrivaled. All is no match for their frozen margaritas, which I would gladly pay double the price for. A great spot to unwind, get some grub and enjoy a clean
restaurant.
