Food is much better than a few years ago under previous ownership. Waterfront with outside dinning. Drinks are priced accordingly for the area. Great place for the 20s-30s crowd to meet. Other demographics should avoid Saturday’s. Good selection of live bands.

I was here on vacation and enjoyed an excellent atmosphere with live music. I had very few complaints when visiting other than the huge mix in the crowd. E.G rock music with more modern music on the outside. All in all not a bad place though.
It was fairly easy to get a drink and the prices were decent. I will definitely be coming back here soon. I really enjoyed the live music and hospitality from the bar tenders.

Used to live right next door and come here all the time. The food is good, and as of recently, it seems the selection has gotten a bit better. I love sitting outside on the patio and watching the boats come in and go out while grabbing a bite to eat. This place is really clean and the staff is super friendly. Great place to come with friends and fill up on some food and beer!

We have dined here 3 times now and have had good food and great service each time. Having moved to the Charlotte area a couple of years ago, I’m really surprised at how few lakeside eating establishments there are available here. It’s a great place to hang out on a weekend afternoon, food and drinks on the deck, people watching and enjoying the vibe. It’s all good!

The WORST establishment in the entire Lake Norman area! Multiple known instances of food poisoning by friends and others (see past reviews) and horrible service. Management (Matt) does not care whatsoever what happens to those who visit here. My personal experience ended with the same manager refusing to correct a very minor error made by his bartender. Came to Rusty Rudder with friends, was ignored for nearly 15 minutes until a friend who knew both me and the bartender was able to get someone to take my drink order. I was then charged for drinks and shots that I did not order. When I located the itemized receipt a day later and called to let them know of the error, they refused to refund me any money and told me it was my problem. Management was extremely rude about it on top of it, claiming it was my error, not theirs. I will NEVER visit this place again. Great location, worst staff and management ever.

Wow!!!! We live right next to the Rudder, and this is our little haven on the lake! We were shocked to find that they have vegan/vegetarian options for us… tofu tacos, black bean burger, veggie wrap, sweet potato fries… healthy food at a bar?!?!! We’re thrilled. The service is good, and the atmosphere is always a party. Live music, great drink specials… can never have a bad time at the Rudder.

Typical bar-type food with a focus on seafood. Good burgers and a good beer selection. Also has an OK selection of salads and healthy options. It’s right on the water with both an indoor and outdoor bar. Feels like a beach bar. Water misters out on the patio when it’s hot. Live music and sufficient parking.

Awesome! Great food, great atmosphere. Loved sitting on patio overlooking lake, nice Tiki Bar, awesome waitress! Smoking in Tiki Bar area outside, reasonable beer prices, live band plays in Tiki Bar area, kind of small area, but overlooking the lake, nice restaurant indoor and outdoor seating, food was fantastic!
