My experience with Rusty Crab Daddy was an overall positive. Staff shared that the restaurant is in a soft opening phase, so I kept that in mind during my visit. I spent time getting to know the team, speaking with the owners, and paying attention to food quality and service.
I appreciated the transparency about what they are still refining. Even at this stage, the staff was welcoming, attentive, and responsive, occasionally coming by to ask if everything with my order is good. The atmosphere felt inviting, including the LED signs on the ceiling and the Jack Sparrow statues, which were a nice touch. The food was fresh, well-prepared, and served with care. They also provided a neat bucket with gloves, wet wipes, a bib, and all the tools needed to crack open all the shells.
I ordered snow crab clusters and crawfish, and my order included potatoes, corn, and sausage with a medium spice level. The snow crab and crawfish were great, and having it drenched in the buttery sauce was amazing! The corn was crunchy and great with the sauce, the potatoes were soft and hot in the center, and the sausage had a nice subtle kick to it. I also ordered a fried shrimp po-boy with a side of Cajun fries To-Go for tomorrows lunch. If I was in a pinch and wanted to get some lunch to go, I would go for the shrimp po-boy with a side of Cajun fries.
I like to take my time because I do understand that reviews matter, and context matters too. Since this is a soft opening, I also understand that wait times might be a little longer while staff are training and the team is establishing a solid foundation. Taking those factors into account, I still had a great experience and felt taken care of. After reading some of the reviews about the establishment and going to the location for myself, my takeaway is simple. I can confidently say that Rusty Crab Daddy is putting real effort into getting things right and building a strong guest experience, and I am excited for the grand opening!
Side Note: For a seafood spot in Colorado, far from any ocean, they did a solid job.
The staff seemed to be working very hard to make everything happen well on Valentine’s Day. We were walk-ins and got a table very quickly right before 4pm. We got the Crab Rangoon and it was a great portion and tasted great. My wife loved seafood boil with the double snowcrab legs. I enjoyed the seafood fried platter with the flounder. Overall, for a midwest seafood place it was very fresh and tasted great. The wife’s birthday is coming up soon so we’ll definitely be back.
