This is an awesome, unassuming little restaurant connected to a convince store in Fruitland. Don’t let the location fool you though because the BBQ here is absolutely spectacular! I was in town doing some work and was told I needed to try out their brisket so I stopped in. It was as good as I was told. The girls at the counter were friendly and nice and the service was quick. It’s not a fancy place for lunch or dinner, by no means, but it sure is tasty. The brisket was moist, thick and full of flavor and the pulled pork was excellent too. They have many homemade sauces to choose from so I’m sure you’ll find one to your liking. You can’t really talk about a barbecue place if they don’t have great coleslaw. And this was GREAT coleslaw. I don’t know where the owners learned about barbecue but they learned in the right place! I don’t think you can beat it in the treasure Valley. All in all this was just a great lunch experience. I can’t wait to go back to Fruitland just so I can stop and eat there. If you’re looking for anywhere to eat and you’re on that side of the valley, you have to stop at The Rustic Pig.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I always wanted to try this joint. Always looked and smelled good. So i did. Bad idea and a waste of money. I ordered 4 pork sliders, which were fine. Brisket Mac and cheese burrito meal which I upgraded the side (mac and cheese) for 60 cents. I also got a quarter chicken. I asked the guy if the chicken was fresh, because if it’s dry I can’t swallow it. He said that it was. That was a flat out lie. I love the skin but this skin was tough as leather. I chewed and chewed but it wouldn’t break down. When I went to eat the chicken, it was tough and dry, absolutely inedible. The side of mac and cheese was one big mushy clump. Absolutely disgusting. The burrito had that mush, and one thin, chewy brisket piece. They forgot my coleslaw until I was walking out the door. The only thing that tasted good was the coleslaw and banana pudding. I was also overcharged. But they couldnt do anything about it. I will absolutely not spend another penny there. Overpriced and nasty food. I will tell everyone I know not to eat there.

I have not been here in about a year or more but decided to give it another shot, and let me tell you I’m so glad I did. I am not sure what changed but the food is way better and even the way the employees interact with you is on a whole nother level. We will definitely be back and telling everyone to go even if it was not so good in the past. This is one place you will want to try.

You name the state and I’ve eaten BBQ there. Carolina’s, Texas Or Kansas I’ve had their best. The Rustic Pig can hang in the race with any of them. Juicy and cooled to perfection with simple and traditional sides. Choose one of the 10 different sauces and order you up 2 pulled pork sandwiches. Finish off with a little banana pudding and you’ll thank me tomorrow.

We were going to go to the Black Cow for an early lunch, but it was closed while moving to a new location. Since this was next door, we decided to try it. Very few cars in the lot, a few folks inside, but it got crowded by the time we left.

A small BBQ joint sharing a building with the Shell gas station in Fruitland, ID. It was a pizza place at one time. There are about 10 tables with a small bit of decor and a TV. Orders are taken and delivered at the counter. They have daily specials listed on the chalkboard.

One of the specials was a new chili mac burrito, so I thought I would give that a shot, with brisket as my meat of choice. Pretty good burrito, I could taste all three ingredients, plenty of smokiness. They have quite a few BBQ sauces to choose from as well. I will have to try their ribs the next time I go.

Drinks are at the soda station in the gas station store.

Very good place for lunch.

We used to eat Rustic Pig almost on a weekly basis, when we wanted to eat out but still wanted quality food Rustic Pig was our first choice. I even brought customers to Rustic Pig who were hesitant to try a restaurant that was inside a gas station but sadly today was probably our last time eating here. The quality and pride in the food is just no longer there. Today our Mac & cheese was mush and all the meat tasted like it had been reheated from the weekend. So sad.

Mom and pop restaurant with some great BBQ. We bought a variety of food items with several different sauces and all were delicious. Be careful with the spicy sauce because it is. Good value for family sized purchases.

Sadly the beloved Rustic Pig is on its last legs. After the new owners took over I have tried to be positive and supportive, but today was the last day I will ever support them. Their menu prices are out dated, so I got charged with the new price which was $2 more on each of my orders. Additionally the beloved Delux breakfast bowl leaves much to desire. So much less food and they’re skimpy on the meat. The bacon Mac is sad and tastes artificial and not at all like my beloved previous owners made. With the rotation on staff so frequently it doesn’t leave me surprised. This business is not what it used to be. So it’s a hard and fast “No, Thank you. I won’t be back” from our family.

For not being southern, its decent. But there is nothing like southern smoked meat!! Not a lot of smoke here in the chicken, the sauce is what makes it taste a little smoky. Actually the smoked chicken at Red Apple is much better! Had the chicken quesadilla when it actually should have been called a cheese quesadilla with chicken. Not enough meat. I had to tear it apart to find the chicken in the huge amount of cheese. Not sure I will come back.

Located inside a gas station in Fruitland, Rustic Pig BBQ is some of the best barbecue I have had in Idaho. It is well worth the drive!

It was a very hot summer day, but I love barbecue and it’s not every day that I’m in Fruitland, so I did my best to try sample as much of the menu as I could. I ordered the 1 Meat Plate, which came with a drink, a side, bread, and pudding. I ordered 4 more small sides. Here is what I tried:

Pulled Pork
Mac ‘n Cheese with Bacon
Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Spicy Baked Beans (they have regular Baked Beans too)
Potato Salad
Cole Slaw
Banana Pudding

I was also offered a free sample of brisket. Both the pulled pork and brisket were excellent! There were six homemade barbecue sauces. They were all excellent! I loved all of the sides, except for the potato salad. The banana pudding was very good! I wanted to try the chocolate pudding too, but I had to draw the line somewhere.

Highly Recommended!!!
