Dinner at Russell’s provides tasty food and great, friendly service! The ambiance is much more casual than that of your typical steakhouse – it felt a bit like a Western saloon. You’ll pay the Vail premium, but it’s well worth it for the quality of the experience.

We had a very nice dinner at Russell’s during Christmas holidays. Excellent service and atmosphere. Although we were a bit disappointed on the food. The onion soup was cold when served and the ribs were very dry and hard to eat. The ribeye and the desert was very good.

Russell’s let me down. First let’s start with price. The quality of food versus cost makes 0 sense. The cheapest entre was over $30 and the steaks were about $60 each. That would be fine if the food was better. The service was slow to get there but she was nice so I am not going to get into that. The food itself let me down. I had the short rib and it was sooo fatty most of it was fat. My husband got the pork chop and while it was tasty…it was undercooked by a lot. My husband addressed this and so they made him a new plate instead of seeing if he wanted something else. I was finished by the time he got a new dish. They did not offer to discount or anything after this which I think is bad business after not being able to eat together and also almost getting food poisoning from raw pork. Spent around $160 before tip and I will not be going back.

My wife and I came after our elopement. We were running behind and didn’t make it until 10 minutes after the kitchen closed but they still let us order and we’re super hospitable. The manager got us complimentary wine and our server was super nice and gave great service. Food was also great

Our entire group of 10 didn’t leave a trace on their plates! That speaks volumes. Very gluten free friendly too. The steak was cooked to perfection and scalloped potato stacks so cheese. Great presentation too. My lids still say it was the best dinner ever.

Crab was pricey but fantastic. Steaks were very good. Salad with sweet drop peppers (teardrop peppers) was great. The restaurant had a 20% off the entire bill sale. One of the best restaurants in Vail.

Our service was kind and the streamside seating made the evening special. The steak tartare was excellent, although a little pricey, even compared to fancy restaurants in a big city. The bison ribeye left a lot to be desired, it was a lovely cut of meat but terribly under seasoned. The char was unpleasant, not what I expect from a $60 steak. The short rib was the favorite at the table and a nice presentation. We enjoyed the service and loved the ambiance, so 5 stars there. But 3 stars for food and beverage… the drinks were not impressive and light on the spirit.

Lucky to score a table during Sunday night where every restaurant in Vail village was full and booked out. Onion soup was slightly diluted and could use more seasoning, cheese was delicious and overall comforting soup. Caesar salad and bone-in rib eye was good, but nothing impressive. Schnitzel was the star of the night!

Excellent service and a wide selection of steaks and meats. We had a very large group and they accommodated us easily. Be sure to make a reservation as seating is limited.
