Staying at the Grand Hyatt, we took a bus to the Village . Russel’s was recommended . We did not have a reservation , the restaurant looked to be at 1/2 capacity. Due to our lack of reservations , we were offered a table at the entrance . Everyone who came though the door , let in a burst of freezing cold air . The bar was steps away and the front door opened frequently . Our waiter must have had a section in another part of the restaurant and we were a pick up table. The waiter was distracted inattentive and slow. My son ordered a steak, I ordered a German dish, pork schnitzel. We also ordered the bread which was delicious. My dish , I could barely cut with a knife . The meat was so tough and fatty it was literally impossible to chew . I tried to let the waiter know, but it took him so long to come back my son was finished his steak. He offered to bring me a fresh plate , I accepted and the pork schnitzel I received was barely better than the first one. Just a horrible cut of meat.
We had to wait for our check, then the waiter ran my card for someone else’s tab. Good thing I caught it. He corrected the mistake, but we had to wait another 10-15 min. Freezing at the entrance , in our prized seating . Lol. Russel’s mailed it in and was completely overpriced for what we received . One beer, one soda, a basket of bread, and two dinners. Son said the steak was good. Our bill for 2 people with tip was 182.00.

Overall great food and service, but steep prices. 7 dollars for hard bread with some butter was not a great start. The winter squash soup was very creamy and heartwarming, just a tad bland. The duck pot pie was very flavorful. The NY strip was pretty good, but a small portion for $57. The gratin potatoes were delicious.
We sat at the bar, where we didn’t have a whole lot of space. Our waitress (the bartender) was very attentive even though she was extremely busy.
We spent $212.25 for three people after tax before tip.

What an absolutely phenomenal experience. They took us as a walk-in table for 2 at prime dinner hour. I thought they would give us a 2 hour wait but they incredibly graciously found us a remarkable table with the sweetest view of the creek. The was precursor to the incredibly hospitable and warm service we received all evening. For the food, the Bernaise sauce that came with my 8oz filet was a particular highlight. My friend got the trout and said it was excellent. I look forward to making this place a Vail tradition!

Celebrated our daughter’s surprise engagement here during our trip to Vail. The entire team went above and beyond to make the evening special for all.

Nice steakhouse, my kids loved this place. The steak was really good. You can find bison and venison. Fun thing is that you can buy a round of beers for the kitchen staff. I don’t think is 100% for kids I think more for couples or friends. But it was great.

Service was lackluster. Waitress (L_____) disappeared many times. No manager checked on table. We had a party of 6 so the gratuity was baked into the check. Not what I expect for an $800 meal. There are too many options in Vail to go through this again.

We had a very nice dinner at Russell’s during Christmas holidays. Excellent service and atmosphere. Although we were a bit disappointed on the food. The onion soup was cold when served and the ribs were very dry and hard to eat. The ribeye and the desert was very good.

Came to Vail for a weekend getaway with my fiancé. We stopped at Russel’s for a good steak dinner. Everything was great other than the service. Had a blonde, tall, older woman. She charged us for bread that we ordered and never got. She came to the table to check and we had empty drinks – we had to ask when she came back for a refill. By the time the check came, never apologized for the bread nor offered to let us take it home. She also didn’t give us an update on desserts so the dessert my fiancé wanted was out. Lastly, she didn’t give us any silverware with our to go food. If I am spending $100+ per person for food and with the bill being over $250 without tip – I expect exceptional service. Probably won’t be back.

The waitstaff are incredible. The food – not so much. I have never been to a steakhouse that slathers their steaks in some sort of gravy without asking. The vegetables were not edible. Ended up eating the potatoes that came with the meal (vegetables come with the main entree but it is not mentioned on the menu so that you order side dishes – fyi) Really expensive. Really not worth it.
