Runza Restaurants Serving real food requires a real commitment. It all begins bright and early each morning. Instead of serving breakfast, we’re making homemade bread dough from scratch. We’re hand-slicing onions. We’re shredding lettuce for our salads. We’re stirring up homemade chili and fresh ground beef filling for Runza® Sandwiches. It’s a labor-intensive process that doesn’t let up until long after closing time. We know there are easier ways to do all this, but our commitment to doing things the right way is as real as our food, and that’s not something we’re going to change.

We tried Runza a few years back and were hooked. Unfortunately, they don’t have any in Texas. When I saw that there was one in Lawrence I knew we had to stop. It was well worth it. I highly recommend the Mushroom Swiss Runza. Pro-tip: have them add onions. Soo yummy!

About once or twice a year I get a Runza itch, this time triggered by a picture of a calzone I scrolled passed on social media. No, Runza are not calzones, but my gut biome works in mysterious (and often nefarious) ways.
Portions are big. Food hit the spot. The Lawrence location is clean and friendly.
See you again in 6-12 months when I scroll upon picture of a dumpling and my gut bacterial overlords remember “Runza!” and guide me back.

Driving through Kansas and wanted to try something different. Decided to try Runza. The Runza sandwich turned out not to be my thing (wasn’t bad. Just not my preference). But the frings (fried and onion Rings together were delicious and the ranch was top tier. Plus the place was very clean (bathroom Included) and all the staff (interacted with 3 people) were soooooooooooo nice!

I’d forgotten how good these are. I went to KU in the late 80’s and had them often. We were back in the area, and when I saw the restaurant, I had to stop. Great food and wonderful onion rings. We ended up buying extra to take home for the next day.

Came up here after a 9+ drive from Colorado since Runza is a South Dakota staple. The staff were so wonderful even with us showing up before they close the dining room and were so friendly. I hope that this Runza never closes since it’s the only one in Kansas and really made our night. Appreciate y’all so much

Love Runza for many years, original with cheese! Nebraska is so lucky to have this restaurant across the state! Really miss it in Missouri & will drive over 100mi. to pick up large order or frozen for family.

Update: the restaurant had been updated with booths, new flooring, and comfy tables. The dining room has new decor and graphics on the wall. Food is still awesome!
