High-ceilinged tavern with a modest American menu of pub grub, such as wings & burgers.

First time here. Heres the rundown, you seat yourself but nothing tells you that. The table and seats were very sticky which wasnt food but just using the wrong cleaning product when dealing with real wood. Its busy and gets very loud in there also but they do their best to accomodate. The manager was taking orders and helping out and was very nice. The drinks were strong and the wings were so good. I would recommend a little more sauce on them but really good either way. I like the vibe and its right in the neighborhood. Definitely worth a stop in

My family and I visited this place on a Sunday evening after hearing great things about their wings. Unfortunately, the experience was a big letdown. We stood at the entrance for a while without being greeted, even though several staff members were just chatting behind the bar. I had to approach the bar myself to ask if we should seat ourselves—only then were we told we could sit anywhere.
Our server seemed impatient and uninterested from the start. We ordered 20 wings to share, along with a bacon grilled cheese and a basket of sweet potato fries. We specifically asked for the fries to be crispy, but they came out burnt. The bacon in the sandwich was thick and tough to chew, and the wings were just okay. The buffalo sauce wasn’t evenly tossed and had an overpowering vinegar taste. Not that buffalo sauce was our favorite.
To top it all off, no one acknowledged us when we left—no goodbye, no thank you. It felt like customer service and hospitality were completely missing. Sadly, this was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in terms of both food and service.

This is a nice local place with a decent selection of beers. It is found in the older part of Minneapolis so the building is historic so lots of exposed brick. Apparently, they have THE BEST Wings in town. Now, I have a wing or two in my life all over North America and I will say these ones are up there. Large, juicy well cooked wings. Very well done. The staff are great too.

My favorite wings in the cities!! Simple little tavern for a good beer and great wings!! We typically get wings and a burger and split them. Always a good experience. Decent place to watch a game as well.
I recommend ordering wings Xtra crispy…Mmmmm!!

Came here with a friend for lunch. Heard great things about the wings (S/O to Sam Reid) and came away very impressed. The wings had a flavorful sauce that wasn’t too spicy but also not without a kick. I got the basket which includes 8 wings and some fries. I wanted a little more than just wings so this worked well; however, I wouldn’t fault anyone for sticking with the wings themselves for how good they were. An easy 5 stars from me!

I heard this place has the best buffalo wings in town so I had to give it a try. I can honestly say the claim is no lie. I am not a huge buffalo fan, but these wings changed my mind. Big, crispy, and perfectly sauced…enough to coat and flavour, but not drowning or dripping. My friend got the Olive burger and was extremely happy with that as well. The atmosphere was old town bar feel, long and narrow. Seemed quite a popular place with young professionals enjoying drinks. On top of the great bar feel and amazing food was the fantastic service. Amber was everything you could ever want from a server, anticipating our every need. Quick to bring water and take orders, and our Arnold Palmer and iced tea never ran out. She saw them under half and just kept bringing out more, not interrupting or being in the way. Dishes were removed promptly and non-intrusive. She was very polite and friendly – Runyons definitely found a great one with Amber! Oh, and the saying on the back of the shirts is classic!! Definitely a place to come back to.

(Last visited 12/1/2022.) If you know me, you know that my favorite wings of all time are merely 20 minutes away from Minneapolis, but… my friends told me I needed to check out Runyon’s downtown, so here’s how things went!
Atmosphere/Appearance: Right downtown with no private parking lot and connected to a seemingly haunted theater is this gem. You’ll have to park on the street since the parking lot is for the theater. But this place is like, stuck in time and that’s perfect. It just fits the aesthetic. The ceilings were high, the floors were a flowery white tile, there was plenty of windows to see out of and the bar was on the left. The walls are filled with 40 years of pictures taken here and everything just seems perfectly preserved.
Food: So… Paul Runyon developed the very same sauce that this place STILL uses 42 years ago. He absolutely perfected it because it didn’t need a thing! You can get the sauce in their original formula or in a habanero variant which kicks the spice up a notch. You can also get them on wings of course and their shrimp! Nice tough for sure. One thing that really blew me away was their house-made bleu cheese. It was perfect and seriously some of the best bleu cheese I’ve ever had. The wings themselves were also seemingly perfect. They were gigantic for sure, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and with that sauce, there wasn’t much more I could’ve asked for. it was like someone from Buffalo pulled up in Minneapolis and said, “I’m the wing captain now.” I loved these wings.
Value: The menu is extremely simple, like, 15 lines long. Lol. Pure bar food and that’s all you need. So imagine bar food prices, that’s all. You won’t have to blow a bag here, you can just chill.
In conclusion, I LOVED it here at Runyon’s more than I thought I would. I really enjoy when that happens. I can’t wait to make a return visit so that I can just check these out again!

I have been here several times before with other people, but I stopped tonight before going to a concert. I was hoping for a bar spot but they were all full. I didnt know if it was seat yourself or wait to be seated. After a few seconds I recognized seat yourself. I sat for maybe 2 minutes before a server got to me and than we got things rolling. Drink ordered, wings ordered. And final thought…everything was awesome. Cold beer. Really good wings. FANTASTIC SERVICE. I left extremely happy with my dining choice. Good place to visit.

I ended up paying $24.11 for eight chicken wings with a small portion of fries. That is with no soda only water. I didn’t really like whatever oil they’re using whether it’s old or has a funny taste. The fries did not have a good flavor and the wings did not have a good flavor.

Me and my homies love Runyons. I’ve been coming to this fine establishment as long as I can remember. Even as a small tot before going to a Twins game. The go-to order of wings (double order), buffalo shrimp and the chili cheese fries (can’t forget the side of XTRA hot buffalo sauce to mix into the bleu cheese) have never let me down. Never change Runyons, never change.
