First time trying the food here and will be my last.
Ordered the Large Chicago, I’m from Chicago so I like my beefs, and it was the most bland, flavorless sandwich I’ve ever had. The only flavor were the pepperoncinis and who puts onion slices on a Chicago beef?
AND on top of it, it was $20!!!
Won’t be back

The Gruber is the best thing I have tried. It is a good mix of ham, cheese, and garlic.

I tried the Prosperity as well. I felt like that one needed something more. The roast beef was good, but maybe some more gravy or possibly a side container for dipping.

I have been eating here since with my mom since I was a kid. The food is the same, (outstanding) the atmosphere is nostalgic . I used to eat here at least once a week.i have moved but whenever i am in the area i make sure to stop by and order enough for a couple of meals. I hope they never change a thing, including the hours. They make sure to close for holiday’s Sundays.

I have been eating here since I was in high school in the 70’s. It’s always a bit of a trip down memory each time I come back for lunch. I find many of their sandwiches unique, but I am big fan of the Gerber and Dee’s Special. They both remind me of sneaking off the Mehlville High School campus at lunchtime. If you haven’t tried Ruma’s do yourself a favor and stop by for a visit.

With bit of nostalgia, rolling up to this Ruma’s location, I remembered going to Ruma’s drive thru somewhere in St. Louis with family and getting a prosperity sandwich. Upon arrival, this location shared some of that same nostalgia, and had the atmosphere of an unassuming hole in the wall diner. Brock and his crew were very friendly and accommodating, even though the place was hopping. I ordered a Prosperity sandwich and Gerber sandwich, and grabbed a table near an arcade in the corner. Taking a bite of the prosperity sandwich, I was instantly taken back to the 90s, rich gravy soaked toasted bread and roast beef filled my mouth with rich flavor, the Gerber sandwich was super cheesy and buttery, honestly, normally I’m not a fan of ham, but the Gerber sandwich was exceptional. After eating a little of both sandwiches I decided to get a little adventurous, and mashed the two together, into a “Prosperous Gerber”, which was a truly wonderful combination. After adding the plentiful pickles that were provided, to add a bit of acidity, I polished off my sandwiches and left full, happy, and satisfied. I highly recommend getting both a Prosperity and Gerber sandwich, and smashing them together, to make a Prosperous Gerber, for a truly delightfully decadent sandwich experience.

*** PRICES WAY TOO HIGH ***

The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. But their prices have skyrocketed. A large Gerber and bag of chips is nearly $20. ($18 to be exact.) A bag of chips is $2.75. The bag contains, maybe, 6 chips in it. Half empty. The sandwich is still awesome and delicious. And plenty to eat. Just not worth a $20 cost for a simple lunch sandwich and chips. No drink.

Get your prices in line and you’ll get 5 STARS next time!

wow. this pathetic dump is still open with one location? probably not for long. I see on the map at least 6 restaurants within walking distance that would be way better. This chain’s demise was well-deserved, with high-priced, lousy food, poor service, and bizarre hours. good riddance.

Went to Ruma’s Deli and ordered the Gerber Special (open faced ham sandwich with melted garlic butter and St Louis Style Cheese). This was my first time trying the Gerber Special. We drove home before we ate it, we should have eaten it right when we got it so that was user error. Looked really good though!

I just don’t get it, wasted $67 here. Tried the Gerber Special it’s ham on toasted french bread, with melted Provel cheese. Sounds good but isn’t tasted cheap and nasty like they got the ham from the dollar general store or a shell gas station. Had two bits of the and threw it in the trash it wasn’t worth the calories. Wife had a pizza bread it was simple and taste nasty. Their marinara is gross, it’s super sweet. Think Ragu mixed with crushed sweetarts. The kids had a pizza they wouldn’t eat ended up going some place else to to eat.
