Adorned with historical artifacts from an erected metal telephone booth to L.P. covers of the late Lawrence Welk, Liberace, and Jim Neighbors to name a few. Above the entry doors, you’ll enjoy local children’s art, and packzi centerpieces in the walkway. Paczki boxes cover the windowpanes, handmade paczki chandeliers hang from the ceiling, and a paczki box photo booth is tucked in the corner of the shop.
Trademark reasonably priced merchandise is neatly placed on shelves and tables aligning the windows and walls, and does a great job at diverting your attention from the twisting lines once inside. There are a few scattered antique metal chairs for guests (who could lose their place in line if seated or may get in the way of workers taking orders to customers’ cars).
The mouthwatering aroma of freshly baked pastries fills the air around the shop and order forms are located on tables scattered about the shop.
The dense paczki is packed with a variety of flavorful buttercreams. Perfect for any palate neither the dough nor the cream is too sweet. I had the maple, maple bacon, apple, strawberry, and Valentine’s fresh strawberry chocolate. There were a variety of other options like the Sauerkraut and Kielbasa Sandwich on a Paczki bun, which I haven’t tried yet.
Customer service was moderate to slow. The person who assisted me was rude and not sympathetic to this being my first visit or the fact that we’d been in line for an hour and a half. She appeared irritated by my inquiry about pricing as there is a visible pricing list. Perhaps her lack of good customer service can be attributed to her young age.
I would suggest ordering in advance for the elderly, handicapped, or those with time constraints. While visiting I witnessed an elderly lady fall from standing in line too long. The older staff ran to her aid and were very attentive to her, their quick response kept everyone calm and she left unscathed.
Over all an okay experience, the other guests in the line were friendly and very helpful educating us on the history of the shop, Polish customs, and language. They definitely added to making my experience pleasurable.
I first stopped over on Tuesday of last week and waited in line about 20mins to submit a pre-order form for Friday. I would have submitted online but they didn’t have an electronic form to submit or even over the phone but I couldn’t get through. I work about 20mins away, so I drove over during my lunch.
Friday came along, which seems like the day everyone wanted to pick up or had placed pre-orders for. Factoring in the 40min round trip and 1.5 hour wait, it was very late to return to work as I only get an hour lunch. Unfortunately, after work was not an option. I marked down a star for service because the amount of people wasn’t better managed with a different system than 2 registers and packing as people placed new orders in. Pre-orders I expected to be able to grab, pay, and go.
But service outside of the wait was extremely polite and friendly.
When it comes to the food, they absolutely nailed it! The paczkis were extremely fresh and soft. The fillings were also super fresh. My wife’s favorite was the Boston Crème. I loved the Malley’s chocolate toffee. We also got one filled with sausage and peppers. And I lastly got a strawberry bar. Very fresh and excellent tasting baked goods.
Would I go back? Yes!
Would I wait in line again for an hour and a half and be late going back to work? No
