Hand cut steak bites soo tender!
Filet mignon medallions
We had two servers both were excellent!
I tried to take pics of the mushroom appetizer but it was gone before I had the chance. We devoured everything in the blink of an eye. The food is incredible as well as the service. The best restaurant in town.
From the happy hour menu I ordered the steak bites (Santa Fe) $14 the wedge salad $12 and a side of fries $4 (just to try them!). The steak bites were in a delicious gravy, the wedge salad was fresh and delicious and the fries were just okay. No big deal. Wouldn’t order those again.
The restaurant serves bread and butter to the table so that was also a nice addition to the meal.
I highly recommend Rudy’s happy hour! The menu is extensive and you get a flavor of one of Salem’s finest restaurants at a decent price.
Original: Rudy is on the higher end but worth the incredible atmosphere, service and food! Perfect date spot! The Brussel sprouts alone are worth the trip!!
We ordered some drinks, and they were all very good. Our tequila shots were a nice heavy pour, which you would expect for $14 each. The Mojitos were also good.
The bread came. It was not warm. It was room temperature, and the butter looked to have been compounded, but I couldn’t really identify by flavor, what was in it. The calamari was as expected. It was crispy and the sauce was nice and spicy.
When the salad came, it was a little disappointing. None of them were chilled. They were just room temperature lettuce on top of room temperature plates. Steakhouse salads should always come on cold plates. Milled pepper was not offered. The soup we ordered was no longer available and so we were given an alternate soup.
Some of the entrées were good and others were not. The cowboy bone in ribeye was absolutely wonderful. It was cooked to the perfect temperature and was seasoned exactly as it should be. The pork chop was a very thick cut of meat and very tough.
The shellfish fettuccine was fantastic. It had well cooked scallops and two prawns. It was supposed to come with crab, but I gently forked through the entire portion and could not find any crab at all. There were a whole lot of tiny bay shrimps, but not one sign of crab. For $54, that was definitely disappointing.
The steakhouse pasta was fine. It was not remarkable, but it did not taste bad. I wouldn’t order it again.
Our party ordered two marionberry cobblers, and a blueberry bread pudding. Of the two, I would definitely suggest the cobbler. The bread pudding was dense and eggy, and did not have any crispy edges. It was a little boozy, but not at all worth the $12. The cobbler on the other hand was a large portion of deliciousness with three scoops of ice cream on top. It was enough for two, maybe three people to enjoy.
The whole dinner was kind of hit or miss. I would go for steak, but I definitely will not order pasta or any other meat there.
The service was standard. Our waitress was monotone, but efficient. When we asked if there were any specials, she just stared at us about a minute later she told us that steaks were 10% off we would not have known that had we not asked.
The restaurant was clean, and the food came out quickly. I would bring people here who specifically wanted steaks, but I didn’t feel like the prices reflected the service or the quality of the food.
