If you’re looking for the soul of Mexican street food—cheap, filling, and packed with flavor—keep driving. This “hole in the wall” manages to fail at the most basic tenets of the genre, charging premium restaurant prices for food that barely qualifies as mediocre.
The “Sausage” Breakfast Burrito ($9.50)
At nearly ten dollars, a breakfast burrito should be a heavyweight contender. Instead, I was served a puny, undersized wrap that was 90% filler. It was a sea of eggs and beans with a microscopic amount of sausage. If you’re going to charge these prices, you can’t skimp on the protein. It’s an insult to the customer’s wallet.
The Tamale Trap ($3.50)
The disappointment continued with a $3.50 tamale. Not only were there no options for green sauce—it was red or nothing—but the tamale itself was parched and crumbly. Like the burrito, it suffered from a severe lack of meat. Paying that much for a dry brick of masa is highway robbery.

The Quality: The red sauce is a joke. It’s not a traditional salsa; it’s a watered-down, translucent imitation of what you’d find at a real taqueria.

Always great, fast, and friendly service. Burritos are fantastic! We get DoorDash delivery at our We Buy Houses Arizona office weekly. Delivery from order to drop off always under 30 minutes! Great food never any surprises. They do welcome special requests and do their best. We’ve dined in as well and the wait staff is great. Always a good experience.

Stopped in and had a chorizo burro, it was very good, but I was still hungry so I ordered a couple of shredded beef tacos. Those were not so good, pre-made hard taco shell? Shredded beef that had no flavor? If it wasn’t for the salsa, those tacos would have been pointless.

If you want, authentic Abuelita homemade huevo rancheros, tamales or chorizo burrito? I had the pleasure of walking into Rudy’s Burritos in Mesa, located on the SE corner of Ellsworth and Baseline and ordered the huevos ranchero breakfast with arroz con frijoles and it took me back to when I was a kid. The Spanish music brings the tradition to life, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. The environment is very welcoming, thanks to two kind women, Sara and Adriana, who went above and beyond to provide the flavors of a home-cooked meal.

Rudy’s Burritos served up one seriously tasty breakfast burrito! Split an order of chips and salsa and a Chorizo burrito with added potatoes . The bill came to $18 and change which was about what was expected. The burrito itself was decent size and plentiful—filling up our tummies and ready to start the day off right! The chorizo is perfectly seasoned – packed with flavor and just the right amount of spice. The tortilla is warm and soft, wrapped tightly around a generous filling of chorizo, eggs, beans, cheese and added potatoes. Will definitely be coming back to try other menu items. Great service and easy wait time. Recommend!

The burrito tasted great, but after deciding against chipotle and other similar places, I was highly disappointed when I received my 20+ dollar burrito and it came out looking a bit larger than something you’d get from Taco Bell. Tasted great but completed ridiculous for a single burrito, no side, no drink, to total over 20 dollars with a tip. Might just be the economy, but I was left disappointed and still hungry, but had already spent my entire lunch budget.
