The food was also very tasty and affordable. We had the chicken quesadilla which was delicious and split a BLAT with fries. All of the fries come with a choice of like 20 dipping sauces. The atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly. we made many friends at the bar and would be regulars if we lived in the area.
You have a lot of options for different beers on tap (many of them served cold in glasses bearing the name of the drink you choose). They also have happy hours (which I plan on exploiting soon)!
The ambience is nice and laid back, the service is good – the best part though is the food.
This has been my 4th visit – fish and chips, fries, burritos and (this time) the chicken tacos were all AMAZING. You wouldn’t expect to find such breathtaking food being served in such an unassuming, fun setup. Do make sure you ask for the garlic tomato ketchup and wonder how you ever lived in the past so joylessly without it.
If you’re within 20-30 mins of this place, give it a visit!
However.
Having been away for 20 years I was devastated to see that Rudy’s had relocated from it’s iconic spot and has a completely different vibe and dang I was sad. So many memories in the old place.
So yeah, this place is decent, but if you are coming back after a long time away, know now you will be disappointed.
I’m not going to write out the full details of what happened but I had one of the worst bar experiences of my life here recently in a confrontation with one of the bartenders who just decided to pick on my fiancee no reason because he either didn’t like that she doesn’t drink or was upset that we were interrupting his ability to watch anime with his friends while on the job.
I’ve had smaller issues with this guy before and seen him mistreat others and I frankly can’t believe they still have him on staff. Maybe he’s the owner or maybe they just put him on when they have no one else available. Seems like a lot of the reviewers have had a problem with this guy as well. If you’re reading this, I hope your edited narrative allows you to keep your position at this “fine belgian brewery” for a bit longer.
I don’t want to cause drama and I’ve never publicly complained about a business before before. But for the rest of my life I’m going to tell people to avoid this place, and for our business meals we will find somewhere else that is more happy to take our money.
