As a Marine veteran, Rudee’s holds a special place in my heart. I was stationed in Virginia Beach back in 2018, and this was one of the go-to spots for me and my buddies after long days. Whether we were unwinding over cold drinks or crushing plates of fresh seafood, it was always a place that felt easy, welcoming, and exactly what you want when you’re near the water.
Coming back years later, I’m happy to say Rudee’s Restaurant and Cabana Bar is just as good as I remembered.
The atmosphere still has that perfect waterfront vibe. Sitting out overlooking the marina brings back a lot of memories, but it also felt like a totally new experience sharing it with someone special. The seafood was fresh, flavorful, and done right. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. The drinks were cold, the service was friendly and attentive, and the whole place still carries that laid-back Virginia Beach energy.
It’s rare for a place tied to good memories to actually live up to them years later — but Rudee’s absolutely did. Whether you’re a local, stationed nearby, or just visiting, this spot is worth your time.

10/7/25 – came here on a Sunday. The parking has valet which I used. They have two options of seating inside the building or on the cabana in the swinging beaches. We sat outside on the swinging benches which was nice. The food was pretty good. I got the breakfast down with fried oysters. Reminded me of Rockefeller oysters with a twist. I ordered the she crab soup, which was delicious. Great thickness to it. I also got the sunflower drink, which was great in flavor and nice amount of alcohol. They have happy hours special on drinks. Service was also great. Would like to come back to try some more things.

Nice waterfront place to eat. Nice views & cute outdoor gliding seats. Service was prompt & friendly. Food was hot & fresh & was very good. Pricing was comparable to other places in the area. Valet parking avaliable. Lots of road construction in the area so you will have to find an alternate way to them but it wasn’t that difficult.

The cuisine was simple with amazing home made bread & some of the best New England Clam Chowder I’ve had in years!
I wish that was a place closer to me and if I am ever going to be back in Virginia Beach, this will be a stop on the visit!

My wife and I went here for a nice Sunday brunch and it was delightful! Perfect weather, relaxed atmosphere, wonderful service and the food was delicious. My wife had the Urbanna Breakfast Bowl and it was HUGE and delicious! I myself had the Shrimp & Grits. Our server, Chelsea was an absolute delight. She was friendly, enthusiastic and very quick. She was helpful answering questions and making suggestions. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back.

Great experience! I often dine alone when traveling and when I asked for a table outside, I was nervous that they wouldn’t have anything for me but they did! They have cozy 2 person tables outside which were perfect! I ordered seafood and loved the flavors – even the vegetables were delicious, lightly roasted with a buttery taste.
I had a great views once a boat pulled out and got to spend a good amount of time enjoying the sites. I ended with a nice, rich, keylime pie

This might be my new favorite seafood restaurant. Not just for the amazing food but also the staff. The waitress (Carlie i believe) gave us some good tips on how to have the broccoli cooked and the history of the building. She truly went above and beyond her job. The bartender made my mom laugh as we celebrated her birthday. The broiled seafood was so delicious and filling. True lump crab meat, nice size shrimp, tender scallops and perfect lobster tail. I cant wait to go back when its warmer and we can sit outside.

It’s all about the vibes and atmosphere here! Beautiful place to sit outside and eat. The drinks were good. The food was a bit lacking in flavor and seasoning, but it’s more chill, low brow food- so it’s really all about the ambiance. Gorgeous views! I had the broiled platter and a coconut rum drink that was perfectly not sweet for me!

It was a very nice spot and we got a seat almost right away on Saturday evening around 8pm. Prices are reasonable. Food was good but the broccoli was under cooked and a bit hard and no seasoning. The rocking chairs are kinda cool!

This makes the 3rd time visiting Rudee’s and each time it’s been great! The staff is always friendly and the food is always amazing. This time I got the broiled shrimp and Alaskan Snow Crab Legs and Cheesecake everything was so tasty. We can’t wait for our next visit.
