This is a nice hidden gem! Beautiful water views on BOTH sides of the restaurant! Despite being pretty packed on a sunday afternoon, the servers were hustlin! The beers were cold, the pretzels and chicken jerk bowl were great! We will definitely be back to this Ruddy Duck!

This is a national festival, we are very happy to dine here , the environment is very good , the taste of the dishes is still online, but because there are too many guests, many details will be overlooked, such as the steak did not wait, and there is a table of people We didn’t have a meal together. The waiter worked very hard and kept running at high speed. Thank you! We went from entering the restaurant to finishing our meal as fast as 3 hours because the wait was as fast as 2 hours! There is not enough parking space here, you need to park next door!

Our first visit to the Ruddy Duck Seafood & Alehouse at Piney Point was nothing less than wonderful. Our timing was perfect to catch a magnificent sunset. We had a warm welcome from Carlos, one of the owners, and amazing service from Alyssa, our server. I guess we were being a little crabby as we had crab dip for an appetizer and crab cakes for dinner. There is no wonder why their crab cakes continue to win awards. I don’t know how they could have been more delicious. We look forward to a return visit soon!

Went to ruddy duck tonight with our 3 young kids. It was a Saturday evening in the summer so it was busy and hot! We didn’t have a reservation but the manager told us he get seat us no problem but it would be outside. We were fine with this. Waited over 25 minutes outside in the 90+ degree heat with our 3 young kids. No one came to bring us a water or to check on us. We saw several servers come in and out helping other outdoor tables but, we were ignored. I completely understand the idea of being busy and understaffed but, in the future I would rather be turned away than be seated & ignored. We ended up leaving. We frequent RD and have never been disappointed but tonight was upsetting!

This is the second time in recent months we have gone but this last time was very disappointing. This was for a special dinner with family from out of town. I made the reservation and asked to sit outside due to a sensory issue by one of our members but when we arrived they told us outside was full and we could only sit inside. Second, we came for the crab mac and cheese which is still on the online menu but they do not make anymore. Then we tried to order oysters “what they are famous for” and they were out and then we tried to order the poke bowl and they were out. We never got refills on drinks and we were never able to order more than one beer. When we my kids got the adult fish and chips one was half the size of the other and hollow….just breading and the waiter never checked on us. This is one of the most disappointing meals we have ever had. The previous time we came the same thing happened with them being out of many menu items but that was a Sunday so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. This was early Saturday, and being in food sales this was just poor planning. Please only go if you only want to eat what they “have left available”. I am never going to get that time back with my family. We planned to eat and drink a lot more but decided to leave after such a disappointing experience. Please save the drive and go to for example to Captain Pats where they care about their patrons.

Excellent restaurant on St. George’s Island in Saint Mary’s County MD. Great view. Fantastic service (Sophia, our waitress could not have been better). Craft beers on tap. Calamari appetizer was great. Not too much breading. Fried oysters were good. Fried shrimp outstanding. And, get the upgrade to the duck fat fries!!! Highly recommended.
