The shrimp and grits was terrible. It was the worst I have ever had. There was so much rosemary that it overpowered the whole dish. The grits were thin and runny, more like soup or watery mashed potatoes instead of thick and creamy.
The banana foster was just okay. The bread was too tough, likely because they used thick slices of French bread. The raisins on top were a big disappointment. It should have been served with pecans. Pecans give a better balance between crunch and the soft syrup soaked bread.
When I walked in, no one was at the front counter to greet me, but I waited patiently. There were only about four customers dining in at the time.

Visited on10/26 for brunch. Me and my friend arrived around a little after 12:45pm. The atmosphere is nice and was giving what should assist w/making it a great start to Sunday funday. We were seated fairly quickly. However, that’s where the good part of the review stops. Once seated it took 20 min for a server to get to our table. Once our server finally came we ordered our drinks which included a mimosa flight and 1 mimosa ( I forget which one) as well as two waters and an appetizer of French toast bites. We initially wanted to try the beignets but we were told they were out of beignets as well as candied bacon bites. This was disappointing. The French toast bites tasted somewhat burnt like they may have been fried in old grease. They weren’t entirely inedible though and my friend from California said they reminded her of funnel cake. We got the French toast bites way before our mimosas came to the table so we had to ask our server what was going on and we were told the kitchen and bar was backed up. When we did get the drinks we were pleased with them they were good. However when the main entrees came they weren’t the best. I got the pick two Benedict combo I chose the Cajun shrimp, and the chicken st. Charles. My friend got the breakfast Buddha bowl with turkey sausage. My eggs Benedict wasn’t warm and the biscuits were hard to cut and chewy. Like they had been sitting. My friends Buddha bowl was missing the avocado crema that it was supposed to come with and her egg wasn’t cooked to her liking. She was never asked how she would like her egg to come while ordering, and when she told our server she would like it cooked a little more our server told us that’s how it comes and that it would take a while to get a new egg due to being backed up. Like no, eggs don’t take that long to cook and if a customer doesn’t like something it doesn’t matter if that’s how it comes it can be adjusted. The server disappeared again so we stopped another server and told her we would like to just order a chicken sandwich to go since she didn’t like her bowl. When our server sees us speaking with the other server she then comes back and takes down the order we were giving her coworker. Well we never got the chicken sandwich or a check after sitting for 20 min we finally got up and went to the hostess desk to get our check and pay. We informed the nice guy at the hostess desk what had happened and he took off the Buddha bowl and chicken sandwich that never came. Also, would like to note they have a margarita flight that isn’t on the menu. Our server didn’t mention it to us when we were ordering drinks. We found out about it due to the table next to us getting one. We also never got refills on water.

My family of 5 had the pleasure of dining in for the first time and the food was good but service was amazing!! Maya just made the experience great with awesome menu suggestions. We chose a range of things from the beignets and candy back to start, catfish and grits, cinnamon swirl pancakes. The french toast and chicken was our favorite. Everything was delicious!

My daughter requested brunch at Ruby Slipper before heading north for her sophomore year in college.
We were greeted at the door by two very nice workers and very quickly seated. Our waiter Alex showed up seconds later to take our order. He is a very good waiter. He was very attentive and maintained very nice conversation with us everytime he came to our table.
We had fried green tomatoes which were excellent. Fried chicken sandwich, breakfast biscuit sandwich and three piggy omelet were all excellent. We really loved the Swiss cheese in the omelet. My only critique were the potatoes and fries were simply not crispy enough. They tasted great though.
The star of the orders were the eggs blackstone. These cannot be more recommended. I would suggest dressing on the side for the salad, but it was excellent.
We will definitely be back and can’t thank Alex enough for being our most hospitable guide through our first ruby slipper experience.

I know this place is probably still on the new side so I’ll give a 3 star for now till the next visit. For starters they were definitely short staffed. Keep in mine we got there around 11:00 am. There was no one at the front to greet and seat us when we walked in. Being this was our first time here that was a strike from me. The second strike was the food. My fiancé’s potatoes were way too salty, they forgot the sauce for my signature sandwich, and the chicken on my sandwich was dry. One positive though was that the training waitress was very nice and it was a calm atmosphere. The coffee was very pretty too. But I have to say for a breakfast place the music was a little weird too. Overall I will for now give a 3 star do to it being under a year old being in Lafayette.

Food was really good. I could think of maybe two other brunch SPots that I liked more than this one in lafayette, which is high praise, because I have eaten brunch at almost every place you can eat brunch at in lafayette and surrounding area. So the food was pretty good. I had both the cinnamon pancakes and the biscuit gravy. I split them with someone else. It’s just too much sweet pancakes for me. The biscuits and the pancakes were amazing. The gravy wasn’t my favorite, but my cousin thoroughly enjoyed them. She said she prefers hers like that. I prefer mine with more breakfast sausage. So that’s for sure, more of a preference. I did taste the banana faster toast. It was really good, but I think I preferred the cinnamon pancakes. The service was topped here. We got checked on many times the workers were all very nice. Now, here is the only thing I didn’t like Sundays are so packed, and we’re used to eating brunch on Sundays and it being packed, But the music was loud, so everyone in there was trying to talk over the music. I felt like I was going to of hoarse by the time I left. One of my friends with us said she’s came on a weekday, and it’s not as bad. So I don’t know if it was just the day they had the music up a bit too much, and it had everyone trying to talk over. If it was just so packed, she said it wasn’t that packed when she was there on a week day morning. It gave me a headache. So I don’t know if we’re gonna do a sunday Girls brunch there again, but I definitely would do a week morning brunch with my husband. Side note we had about eleven of us. And you can only hold tables for 6 on google. So my cousin and i held two tables of six and hopes that we could get them to combine together. And they were able to get us two booth across from each other which wasn’t too bad. They told us for future reference In the note area to put that both reservations were together.

I came for my birthday and was seated immediately with the reservation. Mya was our server and she not only made sure we were well taken care of but she came around periodically to check and make sure we continued to enjoy our service. Love the place, definitely going back.

Let me start by saying our waitress was genuinely kind and attentive—great service on her part!

As for our visit to the Ruby Slipper in Lafayette, my sister was excited. She’s a big fan and had an amazing experience at the New Orleans location during a busy holiday weekend, where the food was top-notch.

This time, though, was a letdown. It was a typical Sunday—busy, but we were seated promptly, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations.

My omelette arrived as an egg white omelette, even though I hadn’t requested it—and oddly enough, it tasted like fish, despite having no seafood in it.

My sister was hoping for the fried green tomato dish, but they were already out of green tomatoes… at 10 a.m. She chose a different dish that featured “poached eggs,” but one was scrambled and the other was cooked solid. The presentation was sloppy, unappetizing and didn’t help the situation.

Overall, the food didn’t justify the price. Honestly, the gluten-free toast was the highlight of the meal.

I ordered the Smash Burger and the Cobb Salad to go. When I got home, I realized most of the promised ingredients were missing.
The Cobb Salad, for which I spent $15, only had lettuce, cheese, and onions. This is extremely disappointing; I feel totally ripped off for paying that much for a plain salad.
The burger was supposed to include bacon jam, mayo, lettuce, and tomato, but all I received was cheese and two patties on a plain bun.
I would not recommend this place. I basically lost $40 for this disappointing meal. I never like leaving reviews, good or bad, but I am really upset about this experience.
