Our server was fast, friendly and cheerful.
The omelette was perfectly prepared and filled, and the cat’s had biscuit was a perfect addition to the plate. I ate every bit of it!
The atmosphere is loud enough if you bring your children, but not enough if you wanna have a quiet cup of coffee for breakfast

While there were less than 1/4 of the full crowd, there were short staffed, which seems like a management issue. Only 2 wait staff trying to keep up with inside and out.
The biscuits are definitely a highlight, as were the pancakes, although my pancake (single pancake was almost $5). My thought is that I was charged for an add on stack rather than a single. Coffee was $3.90 and my only refill, even though I was asked if I wanted one 10mins earlier, was given in a take away cup as I left. Our ticket was delivered but was entirely wrong. Pretty sure this was for another party or table. When the ticket was presented, that’s when I found the high cost for my pancake, which by that time…I was ready to leave.
Although the story of the Ruby Slipper is dear to my heart, I’m a NOLA native, the food and service were definitely not what I’d expect from my peeps.
We ordered the pineapple upside-down French toast and the shrimp and grits. The French toast was yummy. It was a different twist to French toast but good. We didn’t care for the grits too much, but the shrimp and the sauce were tasty. My uncle enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. My husband switched his coffee for a vanilla spiced latte and was wowed. It was so savory.
We have visited the Ruby Slipper in New Orleans before, and we will definitely be visiting both locations again in the future.
The coffee was great, and the food was even better. The only downside was the side of catfish I ordered. For $8, the portion was quite small, the texture was soggy, and it tasted more like swai than catfish.
Other than that, we really enjoyed our meal and the overall atmosphere. We’d definitely come back!
Our server, Carson, was awesome. Super friendly, attentive, and on top of everything without being overbearing. He made the whole experience even better.
If you’re in the area and looking for a quality brunch spot, Ruby Slipper is definitely worth a visit!
The Eggs Benedict? Absolute showstopper. Perfectly poached eggs, velvety hollandaise, and just the right kick of flavor, it’s the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite and say, “Okay, wow.”
Service was top notch too. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to be there, which, let’s be honest, makes all the difference when you’re still waking up and in desperate need of coffee and kindness. Ruby Slipper nails the brunch game. Already planning my next visit.
