I had a really nice visit at Ruby Slipper. The fried green tomatoes are a must, some of the best I’ve ever had. They were perfectly cooked and really flavorful. The beignets were also good, though a bit smaller than some of the others you can find around Pensacola.

I ordered the catfish and grits, which I was really looking forward to, but it ended up being a little underwhelming for me. The dish was very rich with the salty, buttery catfish and the creamy grits, but it could have used something acidic or fresh to break up those flavors and textures.

That said, it definitely wouldn’t stop me from coming back and trying something else on the menu. Overall it was a good experience with great ambiance and friendly service.

Our server was good and well informed about the dishes. The Bloody Mary was great and my Creamy Vanilla Spiced Latte was very good. We had a table of 5 and some folks loved their food and others though it was just okay. The good, the sweet heat chicken and French toast bites were awesome, cinnamon swirl pancakes, biscuits. and bananas foster pancakes were great! The peacemaker eggs Benedict was good. The shrimp in the Migas tasted like they weren’t deveined even though they were.

Had breakfast at Ruby Slipper this morning and was wonderful!!! We arrived around 9:45 with 15 minutes left in happy hour. They offer half off their drinks during happy hour. I had a peach Bellini and a ruby mimosa and my husband had an Irish coffee. He tasted it and hurried to order another one before the happy hour ended. I ordered the Migas and a side biscuit with sausage gravy and both my husband and son had the sweet heat chicken and French toast bites. My migas were delicious! The biscuit and gravy was also good but nothing really that made it stand out. The chicken and French toast according to my son was hands down the best breakfast he had ever had. He loves chicken and waffles bites now he said he’ll be looking for chicken and French toast lol. The restaurant was clean and the staff was all very friendly. Our server was attentive and provided good suggestions. We will definitely be back!

A Flavor Symphony in a Historic Setting!
Located in a building steeped in Pensacola history (the legendary Trader Jon’s site), the Smashburger here is a masterpiece of balance.
The Burger Experience:
The First Bite: The charred aroma of the double smashed patties mixed with melted cheddar is an instant hit.
The Second Bite: A perfect balance of juicy beef, savory oil, and a touch of sweetness from their signature sauce and red onion.
The Symphony: The third bite brings it all together. Unlike many American burgers that are overly salty or sweet, this one highlights the high-quality, natural beef flavor. The fresh tomato and pickles provide a clean, refreshing finish.
The Details:
The only downside was the fries—a bit too salty for my taste. However, the relaxed, unhurried vibe of the staff and patrons makes this the perfect spot for a leisurely brunch. A must-visit on Palafox!

A stupendous brunch waits just at the end of Palafox. While not advertised well there is an early morning happy hour from 7a-10a, Sunday to Thursday, I think. While the cocktails are not elite they are half price during happy hour. The decor is an eclectic hodgepodge of random semi-Cajun rigmarole scattered about the wall.

The service is provided by lost souls dead in the eye but friendly and courteous enough to be sufficient. Just kidding, the vibrancy of the staff radiates through the establishment. The cocktails are a touch slow coming from the bar, but not overly so. The food comes out piping hot and fast on the other hand.

This place is about the food! The first good tater tots I’ve had in about four years. Super crispy perfectly salty and just a delightful crunch. The Tasso cream sauce was divine, if it wasn’t Cajun it would be called a gravy. There was a special of pork belly on grits with fried onions which was definitely drool worthy. The grits before cutting the egg were a touch texturally off, but the perfectly cooked egg let the velvety yolk perfectly complement the meal.

It’s not fine dining but it is well above greasy spoon. The food was moorish and crave able.

This morning, my wife and I started our day with a trip to the Ruby Slipper, and it was a delight! We decided to sit outside because the weather was as perfect, with a light breeze and the sun shining. I went ordered the fried catfish topped with pork tasso cream sauce over creamy stone-ground grits, plus a buttermilk biscuit with a side of apple honey butter. The fish was seasoned just right and came in strips. The tasso cream sauce was so good with the grits that I ended up eating them on their own for a few bites. And that honey butter on the biscuit? It was the icing on the cake. We’ll definitely be back.

This New Orleans influenced breakfast fare was one of the best brunches I have had. The flavors subtle and complex even for a breakfast. It was crowded and the noise level was still ok to have a conversation. The bloody Mary’ s were a perfect blend of spices. The beninets were hot and light.

The whole vibe of the the restaurant was amazing. The decor is fun and worth look at. We were a party of 4 and our bill came to $80.00 We all left happy and full. The only reason we gave a 4 star is because the table we sat at was extremely sticky. Our wait after we ordered was short, possibly 20 minutes.

Fantastic breakfast food and exceptional service! Olivia P. provided amazing service and was very friendly. Everyone in our family enjoyed their food. We ordered Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes, Fried Green Tomato, Omelet, French Toast and Biscuits & Gravy. It is hard to pick a recommendation because everything was fantastic. Highly recommend stopping here for breakfast when you are in Pensacola.
