Mary and I were joined by our good friends Bill and Lauren last evening at Royal River Grill House, as we continue our search for the best dining spots in the area. Bill, Lauren, and Mary shared a lovely bottle of Pinot Noir while I enjoyed a stout on draft — a perfect start to the evening.
Now, let’s talk about the food.
We began with BBQ Brisket Bites and Crispy Calamari, both excellent choices to kick things off. Our group also enjoyed Burrata Caprese and New England Clam Chowder, which were rich, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.
For entrées, Lauren chose two sides — Creamy Spinach and Roasted Beets — both prepared perfectly. Mary selected the prix fixe special featuring Stuffed Acorn Squash, which was as delicious as it was beautifully presented. Bill went with the Barrel-Cut Filet paired with Confit Garlic Parmesan Mashed Potatoes, cooked exactly to his liking.
As for me, I’m still thinking about my meal. I had the Prime Cap Steak with Parmesan Mashed Potatoes and Roasted Beets, and it was outstanding — tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly.
From start to finish, the entire evening exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere was superb, the food was exceptional, and our waitress was attentive and welcoming throughout the night. We all had a wonderful time and are already looking forward to returning.

We made a reservation for brunch because we wanted to enjoy somewhere special for our final Sunday brunch of the year, and this place was absolutely the right choice. It was well worth the drive from Biddeford.
We were seated on the patio, which was beautifully decorated and comfortably warmed such a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Our server, Mason, was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely seemed to take pride in his work, which made the experience even better.
We started with the boom boom shrimp, which was a fantastic appetizer. For our mains, we ordered the breakfast steak sandwich and the corned beef hash with a side of sausage, everything was flavorful, perfectly prepared, and incredibly satisfying. Our drinks, orange juice mimosas and the jingle jingles sangria, were delicious and refreshing as well.

This place sits right on a marina, with plenty of parking and gorgeous views. I’m honestly annoyed it took me so many years to finally visit Royal River Grill House in Yarmouth. Like… where have you been all my life? Our meal here was the epitome of a perfect brunch. We had reservations (highly recommend, they get packed), and we scored an outdoor table on their covered, heated patio. The whole space was lovely, almost Scandinavian in vibe. With a dreamy view of the boats and the water, I definitely found myself daydreaming about summer, though…
The food was so. freaking. good. We kicked things off with Bloody Marys, and those were excellent (and huge) and exactly what we wanted. The coffee was also delicious. I ordered a special, huevos rancheros, and it was probably the classiest take on that classic dish I’ve ever had. Honestly, everything on the menu looked incredible. They have such a great variety which only makes me more excited to go back.
Service was a solid 10/10, too. I wish I’d caught our server’s name because she was on top of everything, even once the place got really busy!

My wife and I are self proclaimed foodies, and because of that we don’t eat out as much because we tend to start breaking down the food we ordered and what we would change. The RR Grill house was the first place in a long time where everything was perfect, didn’t even think about what we would change, becauseit was all so delicious! We split the fisherman’s platter and the smash burger. The shrimp was tender and not overcooked, the scallops were devine with the bacon wrap, and cooked to perfection. The haddock was flakley and moist, with a light coating of breading. The fries were perfect for us. And the Waygu Smash burger tasted beefy, with a little char, and was well seasoned. The garlic aoli was spot on, and the burger was juicy. Jason our server was knowledgeable about the offerings, wasn’t afraid to offer suggestions and was friendly. The out door seating had a great view on a beautiful day! Must stop for anyone!
Stopped in again…everything was spot on again! Trued the plumb & almond crostata and it was delicious, not overly sweet and had some complexity in the flavor. Service was great again! Ashley was warm, friendly, and inviting.

We have been to the Royal River Grill House several times now. Each time is an improvement. I have never been disappointed. The reservation system worked well and I appreciated the confirmation text. We seated in a small alcove, which felt quiet and private. Unfortunately, nearby there was a child whose piercing screams did not portend a lovely evening. However, as soon as the child’s food arrived, calm was restored. We had an order of bang, bang, shrimp which was ample and excellent as usual.
The restaurant is large and very busy, but our location in the alcove managed to set a quiet tone.

Decided to sit at the bar since didn’t seem busy.
Waited to be greeted longer enough that I thought of leaving and wasn’t because bartenders were busy, can’t imagine otherwise.. they need to improve their service.
Food took a long while to arrive as well, not sure what was going on with the whole situation.
Food and cocktails were good at least.

Royal River Grill House is truly a gem in Yarmouth! From start to finish, everything about our evening was top-notch. We began with a dozen oysters and clams from the raw bar — our waitress went over each variety, describing their origins and sizes, which made the experience both fun and informative. The mussels and tuna roll appetizers were equally fantastic.
For our main courses, we enjoyed the heart of ribeye steak with bone marrow mashed potatoes and the wagyu bistro filet — both were perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a date night or special occasion. And to top it all off, our amazing waitress went above and beyond — she even called us after we left because we’d forgotten something at the table. Exceptional service and incredible food all around! Highly recommend!

This was a late in the day stop by on a road trip back up to Midcoast Maine. Big spacious main room with well spaced out tables and a bar that had a two story back shelves neatly displaying some of the more popular bottles. The day was winding down and the team there warmly welcomed us. Ordered a few appetizers so we could get back on the road. After some chatting with the bartenders we received our food, which was amazing. Perfectly prepared with some unique touches.
If I lived in the area, this would be my “place”. Sadly, I’ll only be stopping in every time I got to Portland or beyond. Would love to see this place during the summer. Tons of indoor and outdoor seating.

Wayne was our server and was Superb! Very knowledgeable of the menu with great recommendations. It was our Anniversary and we had a sunset cruise booked and Wayne was very understanding and helpful in getting us thru and on time. The food itself was just AMAZING!! All of it was great. I would definitely either bring an appetite or share some so that you can order extra dishes. Thank you again to Wayne and the rest of the staff for a great Anniversary dinner for me and my wife.
10/19 Sunday…Yet another AMAZING meal!!! The staff is still great. Sarah was our server and was very friendly and had great recommendations. Brought my parents from out of town to dine tonight and we were all just impressed with the food and atmosphere! Already talking of coming back during Christmas time. The Scallops were wonderful. The crab cakes are the best ones I have ever tasted. Great, great, great!!!!
12/27 Saturday…Another amazing and memorable evening at the Royal River Grill. We always make a reservation and we walked in a few minutes before our time and the table was ready and we were sat immediately, zero waiting. The hostess was very helpful, as we were led to the heated patio after receiving 11″ of snow 3 days before hand and 5°F temp. Bryan was our server and was very knowledgeable of the menu. We did order the Lobster MacnCheese which they were out of that night. Which is an item that is sooo good, its understandable to run out! We also mentioned a dessert that we were craving from the previous visit 2 months ago. Bryan brought us a dessert menu which changed and that item wasn’t on there. We found 2 others to try and both were just as good. The service was again on point. We never had to wait long. The whole dining experience was just perfect!!! I would recommend appetizers; Arancini, Bang Bang Shrimp, or the Crab Cakes!!
Entree; Sword Fish, Wagyu Bistro Filet, Diver Scallops, or the Lobster MacnCheese!!
Dessert; any dessert. Be careful the chocolate cake is very rich and a very generous portion, should be shared!

We had the chef’s special and a hot crab dip with artichokes dip. The wagyu steak was perfectly done at medium rare and was out of this world delicious! Sides of coconut shrimp, asparagus, smashed Brussels sprouts, and garlic mashed potatoes were all excellent. Our server, Wayne, was knowledgeable, informative, and a pleasure to chat with. This was a New Year’s dinner that won’t soon be forgotten!
