The first time I went there for the lunch buffet right after the place opened, it was mediocre, but not that bad. The naan was a bit burnt, but the tandoori chicken was pretty moist and tasty even though it’s on the buffet. Nothing spectacular but i thought i would give it another go for $8.99.

The second time I went (also for the buffet), I got sick, and I have an iron-tank-like stomach! I felt terrible the rest of the day. I swore off the place after that!

I ended up going a 3rd time due to coworkers’ lunch preferences. i almost just went to Subway next door as I didn’t want to be ill, but they convinced me the place wouldn’t make me sick again. The selection was a little better this time and nothing was bad at all. I enjoyed my lunch, but be warned – if you are leery of buffets try the dinners – might be better for your health.

The worst dining experience I have ever had. From the start the service was horrible and very uncomfortable. The waiter literally would not talk to us, never asked us anything that we wanted. We probably should have just left from the start but it looked like there were some good reviews for the place. My fiance and I decided to share a meal and they acted really odd about that… as if we didn’t already spend $38 between the two of us (not really sure how that happened exactly, the bill was very unclear). The food was okay, but we felt sick the whole night and I’m almost positive there was something gross specifically put in our food. We are polite people that go out to eat once or twice a week… have never has service as bad as this or been treated so poorly.

Food and service were bad. I went with family (kids) and the whole crew stared at us and acted as if we shouldn’t have been there. Even the Chef came out to check us out as if they thought of me as someone they knew and everyone had to take a peak.

The food was bad. Not worth the $$$. I don’t mean to sound racist, and I come from the region and grew up with Indian food and Indian culture, all I want to say is that Indian Restaurant should be managed by Indian people.

Some of the best naan in town! I love this place, their samosas are my favorite. Paratha is really good here, Malai Kofta is worth a taste as well – in fact I have only one criticism & that’s due to an an awkward dining room experience one night. The food was still excellent, the service left nothing to be desired but they were clearly having communication issues & were inexplicably short on rice. I think we just caught them at an odd moment but they rolled with it.. I probably order take-out once a month from here.

We really enjoyed their lunch buffet…Will be back again to cure any cravings for sure!! I enjoy very spicy, and the food appeared to be somewhat bland (had flavor, just not hot/spicy flavor), although my girlfriend didn’t think so. They had some chili sauce that put it up right on my level though and broke a sweat.

I frequented another indian place in town, but after a couple inconsistent meals I decided to try Royal Clay. Their food is amazing, I am so glad I found them. Their chicken Makhani and tikka masala are amazing, but my favorite meal is the vegetable khari. The veggies are fresh and its cooked in an delicious mouth watering sauce. I have yet to try their lunch buffet but I hear its amazing. The service is great as well, everyone is friendly and it’s a family owned restaurant. I highly recommend Royal Clay, the best authentic indian food in Boulder!

Inconsistent–usually very good, sometimes Great, and occasionally only better than mediocre. Great lunch buffet for less than $10. Cliche, I know, but when it’s good their chicken tikka masala is probably the best in Boulder.

Whenever I’ve visited the Royal Clay Oven it has been quiet. There were other diners in the restaurant, but not many. However, I’ve gone at odd times like in a snowstorm or for an early dinner service on Sunday. So maybe its very busy over lunch. I’m glad that its not been busy because they are able to get our food out to us quickly, and the quality is also great.

I love their dahl soup. The broth is light and full of bright flavors. I have fallen into a routine of ordering the black lentil dish, the name of which I cannot say. However, I can tell you that it is delicious! Its rich like chocolate with a bit of a smoky finish. Yum! My man always gets the chicken tikka masala, which is good here as well. You can tell that the flavor and color of the dish is from the spices and not artificially derived. Its very good. We suggest trying their takeout as well. They use environmentally conservative containers that can be reused at home.

Never eat here, this place does not deserve even 1 star. It’s really the worst food I ever ate. Never go here if you want to eat decent food. I know how a Indian food taste like. Dont waste your time and money. Bottom line: even my dog would not eat this food. Enter at your own risk.
