My husband and I recently had the pleasure of dining here, and I must say, this restaurant is exceptional—not only for its delicious food, but also for its outstanding customer service. We had the opportunity to meet one of the owners, Rose, who was absolutely wonderful. She welcomed us with the warmth of family, despite it being our first time meeting her. Her passion for the restaurant and for great food was evident in every conversation.

Although we didn’t meet her husband, the chef, his talent shone through in every dish we tried. The Arancini and the Pesto Chicken Tortellini quickly became our favorites—both were unforgettable. Evan, the bartender, was also exceptional; the cocktails were fantastic, and he went above and beyond by kindly escorting me to the restroom, which is located outside the restaurant.

We had an amazing time at Rovino and truly enjoyed every part of the experience. It’s safe to say we’ll definitely be visiting again during our next trip to San Diego.

Saw this restaurant posted on a gluten friendly website and reading all the rave reviews I had to go!
I was not disappointed! The service was great and the food was amazing! The gluten free bread on the flatbread was Together with the toppings it reminded me of being in Italy. Such fresh ingredients with such great flavor! The salad was also perfect and not pictured was their gluten free chocolate torte. Also amazing and such beautiful presentation.
Will be back to try their gluten free pasta soon!

We had an amazing experience with Rovino’s catering for our intimate holiday party and can’t recommend them enough. The team made everything seamless and stress free from start to finish.

Chef Francis was incredibly kind, attentive, and truly invested in making our event a success. Rose was equally wonderful, checking in throughout the evening and even offering to help arrange desserts. Every detail felt thoughtfully handled.

The food was outstanding. From focaccia and arancini (my personal fave) to perfectly cooked chicken and crowd favorite meatballs, every dish was a hit. Evan’s old fashioned was the cherry on top.

A team that genuinely cares makes all the difference. We’ll absolutely be using Rovino again.

My husband and I came here for dinner for a romantic night out. At first we were apprehensive of the indoor/outdoor restaurant but let me tell you… we were impressed by the food and service. The drinks were amazing. My husband got a delicious rosé and I got a bold red wine. We split the Caprese salad and chicken ravioli. Everything was perfection. For dessert we opted for the espresso martini versus traditional sweets. No regrets.

I’ve absolutely loved Rovinio for years – I don’t know why I haven’t made a review yet.

Frank (head chef) is deeply passionate about the food he makes. Him and his wife are also the most lovely people in the world.

Imagine you were going to your family friend for dinner, but that friend was also a world class chef. The music, ambiance and staff are all world class too.

4 going on 5 years and I’ve never had a bad meal. If you haven’t been yet, just cancel your other plans and do it- it won’t be your last time I promise.

We were looking for some meat (proteins) and vegetables to eat as I am pregnant and I was craving some healthy but tasty food. We were walking around and found this gem. We ordered Carni Miste and it was delicious and so vast for 2 people, also the focaccia. My husband ordered an old fashion and he loved it. We loved it!!! Plus the service was great. They turn on the oven only for us as it was late and about to close. Absolutely one of the best restaurants we eat during our staying in San Diego!
Sorry, I just took a picture of the old fashion but not of the food.

Wow….just Wow!!! This is the 2nd time I have been here. I traveled all the way from Las Vegas, NV to see the chef/owner again. I brought new friends and we all loved our dishes! I came back because I remembered how delicious the artichoke appetizer was!!!

I have so many food allergies and the Chef came out to speak to me again about my many friends of allergies. He’s amazing. I had GF focaccia bread, artichokes, and GF penne pasta with his amazing bolognese sauce! Sooooooo delicious!

All of my friends had their food and are still talking about how wonderful it was: lasagna, prosciutto flatbread, truffle flatbread, extra spicy chicken Alfredo, and my GF bolognese.

I can’t thank the chef enough for his individual care and concern for the dishes!!!

Thank you!

Great and delicious food! What I appreciate the most of the restaurant is their ability to accomodate for celiac disease, so my wife can comfortably eat there. It was our first time eating at this restaurant and we were impressed! The Spicy Sausage Pasta was amazing and the focaccia was also delightful. My wife had a flatbread pizza that she enjoyed and we spoiled ourselves with delicious white chocolate espresso martinis for dessert

I can’t gush enough about this adorable eatery. We had lunch here on a Sunday. The ambience was fantastic. The service was excellent. The appetizers, salads and flatbreads were delectable. Everything was incredibly fresh and the flavor combinations were novel and delicious. The chef came out to speak with us several times and even offered off-menu options, which were absolutely lovely. The drinks were fantastic as well. I can’t speak to the desserts; we unfortunately didn’t have room. Overall, this was high among the best dining experiences I’ve had.

The food and drinks itself were fairly tasty and comparable prices to other Italian places in San Diego. Service was odd, we had 3 people stop in to check on us and ended up getting incorrect drinks. They also have a table right next to the window to the kitchen, in which we were at, and my husband was constantly getting bumped by the staff, to which no apologies were made. Its a cute place with good food, but definitely nothing to write home about.
