Reviews
When we arrived the place was just getting ready as the evening rush was starting.
Despite being very busy, and being put on the waitlist, we were offered a place to sit within 30 seconds.
We elected to sit at a community table, which is nothing more than sitting at a picnic table with strangers.
This was okay and we barely acknowledged them as the table was fairly large.
The food service is all handled via your cell phone. You will need to use a provided URL to place, and pay for your order. You can leave the tab open and close it when you are ready.
The food was good, the service was fast and the outside gas heaters kept us quite warm and happy.
I would gladly visit here again and again.
The heated beer garden patio is picnic-style tables with actual chairs. Some tables are on the deck boards while others are on wood chips. Well-behaved dogs are allowed, but not in the inside dining room. Inside, you have bar seating, booths, a long table, and a standing counter available. Each table is equipped with a QR code to view the menu and self-order. When your food or drink is ready, a member of the staff will bring over your order. Paper napkins are on the table, but cutlery, basic condiments (ketchup, mustard, etc.), and takeaway boxes are all on a central table for guests to retrieve. The staff is friendly, food is affordable, and the extensive menu is not only impressive but absolutely delicious. Winners were the butternut squash soup with focaccia strips for dunking, the breakfast sandwich (perfect combo with the sausage patty), and Rudy’s smash burger (saucey and fantastic). We were there on a cold cloudy day, and it was MOBBED by the time we left at 12:30pm so I can only imagine how busy it would be on a beautiful day. Plan accordingly or be ready for somewhat of a wait. Awesome place, can’t wait to come back!
This legendary local landmark continues to be one of the best spots in the area for a casual, high-quality meal. One of the standout features of the experience is that the service is fast, especially considering the sheer volume of people they serve. They have a very streamlined system in place that ensures your food and drinks arrive at the table shortly after you hit “order.” Speaking of ordering, a fair warning: the food is so tasty and the mobile ordering process is so seamless that you can get hooked on continuous ordering. It is very easy to find yourself saying “just one more round of fries” or “one more appetizer,” so be careful or you might find yourself with a much larger feast than you originally intended!
A Great Vibe That Draws a Crowd
The atmosphere here is truly unique, blending a rustic, historic indoor space with a massive, vibrant outdoor patio.
Be Prepared for the Crowd: Because this is such a staple in the community, it does get busy. Whether you are coming on a weekend afternoon or a weekday evening, you should be prepared to wait for a table. The popularity is well-deserved, but it means you should factor in some extra time for parking and seating.
Family and Dog Friendly: The outdoor area is perfect for groups, families, and even pets, creating a lively communal vibe that makes the wait much more bearable.
Classic Comfort Food: The burgers are the main draw, but the entire menu consists of well-executed pub classics that never seem to disappoint.
✨ Efficiency in a Busy Environment
It is impressive to see a kitchen and staff handle such a high-capacity venue without sacrificing quality.
Quality Control: Even with the rapid-fire speed of the kitchen, the food arrives hot and correctly prepared every time.
Easy Ordering: The tech-forward approach to ordering at the table really helps keep the “continuous ordering” flow going, which is great for groups who want to stay for a while and keep the snacks coming.
Final Thoughts and Recap
To recap, this remains a premier destination for anyone looking for a fun, outdoor dining experience with tasty food and fast service. While you definitely need to be prepared to wait due to how busy it gets, the reward is a fantastic meal in a beautiful setting. Just keep an eye on that “order” button, as the food is addictive enough to keep you clicking all afternoon! It is a 5-star experience that perfectly captures the local Portola Valley spirit.
They’ve got both indoor and outdoor seating, but the outdoor area is where it’s at! Perfect for good weather and catching up over food and drinks. Weekends can get really busy, but the crowd moves fast, so the wait isn’t too bad.
There’s plenty of parking right outside, which is a huge plus. Overall, Rossotti’s has that perfect mix of energy, great food, and good people, it’s just one of those places you keep wanting to come back to!
The pizza was well made, with a nicely baked crust that had a good balance between crispness and chewiness. The toppings were generous and evenly distributed, and the cheese melted beautifully without being greasy. It felt rustic and comforting, the kind of pizza that’s easy to share but also satisfying enough to stand on its own.
The steak was a standout dish. It was cooked nicely, remaining juicy and tender, and topped with a vibrant green sauce that added freshness and acidity. The contrast between the rich meat and the herb-based sauce worked very well, and the grilled peppers on top added another layer of flavor and texture. This dish felt well thought out and confidently executed.
The ribs were also impressive, arriving stacked high and coated in a glossy barbecue sauce. The meat was tender and flavorful, with a nice balance between sweetness and smokiness. It was definitely messy in the best way possible, and clearly meant to be enjoyed casually rather than delicately.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere was relaxed and lively, making it a good place for a casual gathering or a long meal with friends. The setting felt comfortable rather than formal, and the overall vibe matched the generous, bold style of the food. Service was solid and efficient, with no major issues throughout the meal.
In summary, this is a place where portion size, flavor, and comfort food come together well. If you’re looking for satisfying dishes like pizza, steak, and ribs done right, this spot is definitely worth a visit.
