3/2025- Original post – My Dad found this place about a year ago and held out on me! Shame on him!! He decided to stop to stop off here knowing I love Mexican food. OMG, it’s been a week and I cannot get this place out of my head. I’m craving it like CRAZY!!
This place is one of those little hole in the wall. M y dad lives in a traveling trailer. He decided on night he wanted Mexican food. He went online to look up “Authentic Mexican food” and found “Rosie’s”. The photos showed a hole in the wall. That’s what he wamted to try know thats where you find the gems. Boy did he!!
When you walk in Rosie’s you are greeted by friendly customer servers right away. I’m “that person” in front of you with 50 million questions of, “Is the beef shredded or ground” or “are there onions in the meat or on top of enchiladas”? Yup, all due to allergies, plus being picky, I have to ask all these questions. They were HAPPY and then some to make sure I had them all answered to guarantee I was getting a meal I wouls enjoy. Woohoo, did I!
When our number was called we took our pipping hot plates to the second side if the restaurant where there are booths and tables to enjoy sitting down to eat. I ordered their 2 shredded beef enchilada combo plate. It has a number but I can’t remember what it is. My dad ordered the 2 ground beef enchilada compo plate both were amazing!! The beans are authentic. The rice is so fluffy. There’s no veggies in it. For those who are inquiring. The enchiladas were overflowing with meat that was so juicy but not greasy!! The sauce has the spice level that isn’t so spicy that it’s overpowering. Yet it’s hot where you know it’s spicy but not enough to make you stop eating it, but where your taste buds and cravings make you keep coming back for more.
I ate as much as I could in the restaurant and took the remaining home. I could not stop thinking of this food sitting in my fridge all night long. I finally had to get up at 3 a.m., since I could not fall asleep as I was thinking about it that much! Put it in the microwave and enjoyed me a second meal just as much as I did the first time! Lol I will be returning again this week for more in the restaurant! I have shared it with local friends as well as this is one business that should be kept around!!
The whole time I was there I looked around and I noticed the establishment was very clean. On both sides. At the time we were there they were very attentive to the tables and making sure they were wiped off and cleaned up for the next people as there was a large turnover in the amount of people coming through. I highly recommend this place, if you are in the area or driving by on the freeway, you need to stop in to Rosie’s!!
They used to put less meat in the burritos, I had to order with extra meat to be a good amount, now the portions are great.
I like this location because is just of the freeway, not a lot of street driving.
Thank you can not wait to eat here again.
We went to Rosie’s in Calimesa this morning, and it was a nightmare experience. I clearly communicated to the cashier that we had multiple severe food allergies (dairy, egg, peanut, soy, corn) and needed our food cooked separately and safely. I repeated myself multiple times, emphasized the importance, and asked them to alert the kitchen.
It was not busy at this location. We were the only ones placing our order.
Despite this, they served my toddler a plate contaminated with eggs, dairy, and cheese — allergens that could have seriously harmed her. The cashier admitted she didn’t pass our allergy information to the kitchen, even after saying she understood how serious it was. No real apology, no refund, no accountability — just a weak “I understand” while my daughter’s food sat in the trash and we were left scrambling to find safe food elsewhere while traveling.
To make matters worse, the food appeared pre-cooked, mixed together, and slapped onto a plate without any care. The bacon was crumbled and dry, the sausage had cheese on it, and the hash browns were cooked with dairy (which no one bothered to tell us until AFTER my toddler reacted!).
Their negligence put my child’s health and life at risk. $43 wasted — and worse, now I have to watch my daughter suffer the consequences. Her eczema is already flaring up from exposure.
If you value your family’s health, steer clear of this location. Other Rosie’s locations seem to have better reviews — but this one clearly does not take food allergies or basic customer care seriously.
