As a true bezonian, I always enter an establishment with high hopes. As I walked in, I immediately smelled that old building scent. I mean, this is a good way; it’s comforting, like the smell of an old book. While I found the scent reassuring, I doubted the outcome with Rosie’s. Rosie is no longer with us and her picture adorns the wall. Marlene, my server, has been here for 19 years, which I found shocking as she is happy, efficient, and works her tuchus off. This garnered Marlene a 62% tip. Well done, Marlene. Marlene has become an icon in these parts, you can even buy a t-shirt with her likeness while dining. I asked Marlene the Magnificent for one Micco Burger (medium rare) and 10 Garlic Parmesan wings.
Digging the relaxing vibe of the old place (people were actually having fun in here), I eagerly awaited Marlene’s return. It wasn’t a long wait as she was soon sighted bringing my order out of the kitchen. Take a look at those pictures. That is a massive burger. The Micco Burger is made from 8 oz of ground beef, hand-formed, with melted American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion. A half pound makes for one giant hamburger. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare, the cheese was melted all around and the bun was fresh and tasty. The side of pomme frites was likewise perfectly cooked and just as scrumptious.
Moving on to the order of Garlic Parmesan wings. One bite in, I knew these were not the best wings I’d ever had, but they were pretty good. They were cooked correctly and abundantly seasoned. Are they going to win any awards? No. Are they trying to? Also, no. They are fine for what they are.
The Big Boy says, “Great vibe, smells, and service. Stop on by and tell Marlene the Big Boy sent ya. Hopefully, she won’t yell at you!”
