We are located directly across from City Hall at 55 Washington Street, there is a black gate with a Roots sign on it and you will find us 20 yards into a park called Center Street Marketplace, the restaurant has limited visibility from the street. !

Roots in Rutland really stood out. We started with the eggplant chips, which were perfectly crisp and packed with flavor. For mains, we had the ravioli and tofu, both were incredibly hearty and fresh, with a thoughtful balance of textures and flavors that made each bite satisfying.

The non-alcoholic berry sangria was refreshing and well balanced, and the chocolate mousse was a great finish, rich, smooth, and just indulgent enough.

A special shoutout to Christian for exceptional service. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, he elevated the whole experience.

This place is clearly in demand, so reservations are a must. A fantastic spot in Rutland that we’d happily return to.

Great food, well cooked healthy and full of flavor. Staff is very friendly and the kitchen is able to accommodate gluten free needs. We loved it so much we came back the next night. Nice dessert selection. My fiancé had the carrot cake and loved it!!

If you’re looking for a hidden gem in Rutland this is for you. So glad we stopped. Tucked away off the street behind the Paramount. Clean dining room, well spaced tables, awesome calming decor. Nice clean spacious bathroom.

Started with the Fried Brussel Sprouts which had a sweet chili glaze & ancho spiced maple aioli. Sooooo good! Next I had the Bistro Steak Frites which is a Maple-Whisky marinated pub steak, grilled, served over diced Idaho potatos with a light honey-horseradish sauce. I got it medium rare, it was cooked perfectly but I suggest rare.

Wife had the Scallop Salad which is pan seared scallops, spinach, bacon, onion, tomato, mushrooms & bleu cheese. She wished there was half the blue cheese, but I ate the blue cheese and she loved the rest.

Kid had the Turkey Flatbread Wrap which was shaved thin, granny smith apples, onions &
cranberry-sage aioli along with a side of maple glazed carrots slightly al dente. Kid like it so mush ate it all and usually we bring stuff home.

For dessert wife had a espresso martini (creamy) and she said it was one of the better ones she has had. Kid had the cheese cake which was light and creamy. Again ate it all. I had the Creme Brule and it was one of the best I have had.

Christian, our server was awesome, funny, personable and knowledgeable on every part of the menu.

Only gripe I have is I like Old Fashions but without the cherry. I ordered 2 without the cherry but each came with it. But this doesn’t change my mind. 5 STARS! You were awesome Christian.

Will definatly stop again.

Tre was phenomenal! Brussel sprouts as an app, ribeye and duck as entrees and the carrot cake and cheesecake to finish us off! I got a N.A. drink; the blueberry and lemon spritzer. Everything cooked to perfection with a nice vibe to boot! Thanks for the great meal!

I had the cod. The presentation was awesome! This photo doesn’t do it justice, the lighting was dim. Everything was perfectly cooked. The only weird thing was the panko on top of the cod tasted a bit like soap.

My partner ordered the pork with apples and onions special and although the seasoning was on point, the pork was dry and overcooked. To it’s credit, the menu states their pork is cooked to “medium” so if you prefer medium rare, be sure to ask the server for it. I had the ribeye and it was cooked beautifully to my request with a small dollop of blue cheese butter, crispy potatos and maple-glazed carrots. It was very good! The service was prompt, friendly and attentive. Well done.

Everything was delicious! My dining partner & I enjoyed the delicious ( vegan) butternut maple soup, the beet & arugula salad & the almond crusted cod with spinach, scallion aioli & diced sweet potatoes. The carrot cake with cream cheese icing is house made & absolutely delicious!
We sat at the bar with Jenna, who is so nice, & gave us wonderful recommendations, Ross is also very nice, reserved prime seats at the bar for us, our favorite option for dining. My partner enjoyed the extensive craft beer menu. Roots is a little gem, tucked away in a beautiful space. If you don’t have a reason to visit Rutland, Vermont, now youdo! Say “hi” to Jenna & Ross for me!!!

Insane to find this in a relatively small town, this is the closest ive experienced to Michelin star cooking by far. Well done chef, we’ve dined here a few times and are blown away by the chefs prowess each time. Wish you had a cookbook.

We loved our dinner at Roots. We called for a last minute reservation and were lucky to get a spot on a Friday night! The fondue was a generous and delicious portion, the chicken entree was amazing, service was fabulous, and vibes were high!!! 10/10 time, definitely recommend for anyone in the Killington area!
