First time here, came with friends on a Sunday for lunch. It’s located right across from Lake Fowler, so you can choose to dine inside or take your order to-go and sit at one of the lakeside tables. Inside, there are numerous seating areas for different-sized groups, spread across several “rooms” that give you a sense of privacy. Large front windows let in plenty of natural light, making the space feel open and bright.
We arrived right around noon, just as the lunch crowd was filling in. There was a short line that moved quickly. Service was friendly and helpful while we placed our order. We decided on the Brie Salad and the Avocado Toast, along with a Lemonade and a London Fog Tea Latte. I gave them my special instructions for the latte (a little lavender, a little vanilla, extra foam, in a mug), and they were happy to make it exactly as requested. Orders come with a number, and the staff delivers your food right to your table.
The wait was short before our food arrived, and the entire meal was excellent. My Avocado Toast was a treat — layered with toast, cream cheese (yes, cream cheese!), avocado, and feta on top. It was so good as is, but next time I’ll ask if they can add a poached egg on top — that would make it even more amazing.
A great first-time experience here. I’d definitely come back for breakfast (or maybe try another lunch).

I ordered online never been here before looked good so I thought I would try it. I was going to wait outside for my order but needed to use the bathroom and my husband said he was hungry so I thought I would checkout what they had see if there was anything he would like. WOW, I’m impressed! The staff was friendly. The inside was beautiful open and so much to look at. Great seating options too. Definitely a place worth more than a pick up and go. Will stop again and enjoy the atmosphere. Even my pen friend from Oregon wants to have some breakfast here when she visits.

I really love this place because it is right downtown and right by the boardwalk. I love the atmosphere, and I love the very friendly workers that they’ve had for years.
I love the diversity of food options.
However, I do feel that the food and coffee is going a bit downhill. I ordered a pumpkin chai and it was extremely sweet! Especially compared to stone Creek and other options. I also ordered a kids cheese and it was extremely hard. Unfortunately, my son could not eat it because it was so hard!
I do feel like this feedback is important to know! I would give it five stars, but I think they need to make some tweaks on the quality of food and menu.

I love Roots— I come here frequently as I am local to the area. However, and this is probably based on factors I am unaware of, recently I’ve noticed a big jump in prices. My iced oatmilk latte was $8.87, which seemed very steep. I will have to rethink my choice of coffee shops in the future as this is a little more than I would like to spend. And yes, I realize oatmilk is probably an up charge, but other coffee places aren’t this expensive.

A happening place, bustling on a Tuesday morning. Had their breakfast burrito with egg, black beans, corn and sausage on a whole wheat tortilla ($7). It was yummy! They serve breakfast all day. Lots of seating, including high tables, low tables, couches and outdoors. Music is pretty loud, otherwise, it would be a good place to work online. Service was friendly and fast. Nice art. Wonderful! I went for coffee/breakfast with a friend and it was such a cute shop. A lot busier than I was expecting but my order came out fast.
Highly recommend their ham and cheese quiche and a vanilla iced latte.

I really do love this place. When I first passed through Oconomowoc 3 years ago by happen chance, I stopped by Roots for lunch. The experience of seeing City Beach, eating lunch at Roots, and driving through downtown Oconomowoc was enough for me to pack up and move here 4 months later from an hour away.
I think they have the best coffee/Lattes in town.
Their food quality/service has always been top notch.
The interior is cozy and contemporary, Intimate and relaxing. This has been a repeat business I have spent $100s of dollars with in the last 3 years. I love it.
I just wanted to say that it is absolutely crazy that the breakfast burrito I ate today was 1/3 filled with corn. Not even fresh corn. FROZEN CORN! I’m still shocked. The texture and taste of frozen corn is beyond recognizable and barely palatable on a plate with butter let alone wrapped up and reheated in a breakfast burrito. Ya’ll need to remove the corn and replace with potato and even bell peppers (both can be frozen and reheated) – using frozen corn in a breakfast meal as an ingredient is crazy.
The other thing was I had a hard time reading the menu today with the baby blue background and fine font. I overheard the elderly couple behind me discussing the same thing.
I love Roots and will continue to patronize this business – but please guys tweak that burrito a little bit
