Roots is our favorite coffee house! Bible and breakfast = bliss. The breakfast crepe might be the best thing ever. Chock full of veggies, eggs, cheese & bacon (my pref). Praise God for such a wonderful establishment.

Honestly, I want to love this place. I love the idea of it being shared with a ministry space. The food and the drinks I’ve tried have also been pretty good (even though their chicken is similar to Perdue Short Cuts). However, the few times I’ve been in, the staff is always extremely unpleasant. I’ve never once been greeted by anyone working there when walking in or asked if I have any questions about the menu. Basically just get ignored until I’m standing at the register trying to make eye contact with someone who can take my order. When ordering it seems like the person taking the order is bothered by me being there in the first place. This time was so uncomfortable that I decided to get my items to go and eat in my car. I had asked to leave something off my sandwich and when I got it, I realize it still had the ingredient on it so I went back in and waited in line to ask them to remake it. The girl who took my order, took the sandwich and asked the kitchen to remake it. Watching the exchange, I could tell that they were clearly frustrated. I waited in the café for my sandwich before realizing that there was an unlabeled box just sitting at the pick up counter and nobody had told me that it was ready. I ended up going up to the counter and asking a girl that I had made eye contact with a few times if that was my remade sandwich to which she said yes. Overall, if you don’t care about customer service at a place like a café it’s probably fine for you, but if you care at all about good customer service, I would not recommend going here.

Dedicated Gluten Free place, lots of healthy options too. We got salads and tomato soup. Tomato soup was great, salad with chicken was okay. Cozy environment, would visit back if we are ever in the area again, for a quick healthy choice of food.

Of all the places that I have reviewed here in Maine this has to be my all-time favorite place. Just the atmosphere the food the freshness. And it’s 100% gluten-free facility. I am truly amazed at the work and atmosphere of this cafe. This is a must-stop a destination if you will anywhere near the Portland area or anywhere in Maine I highly recommend that you stop and you can pick up a free Bible imagine that what a beautiful country we live in we are truly blessed to have a place like this May God bless you and continue success.

We LOVE Roots Cafe. This is my son’s favorite place to go on a breakfast date together. Their lavender latte is SO good.
The atmosphere is perfect for playing a board game, reading your devotional/Bible, or for catching up with friends or family. The staff is also incredible! I always leave so encouraged by their kindness. I have also scheduled meetings with people at Roots-most of them are struggling in various seasons of life. Roots Cafe generously offers a variety of books and Bibles for free (1 per person) or via honor system (borrow & return). I am able to meet with people there and they can leave with their first very own Bible or with a book to read for encouragement. I LOVE Roots and I am grateful for all that it has to offer for me, my friends, and my family!

Most expensive breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had and possibly the worst. I expected something better for $11. Extremely dry. Cheese not melted. Forgot the bacon. Egg seemed microwaved and overcooked. My standards are not even that high. Crooked mile microwaves their eggs and its delicious. The ingredients seemed decent and fresh otherwise, but it all came together for a dry bland sandwich.

All offerings are gluten free which is so appreciated. We grabbed breakfast a few times while hanging around Portland and really enjoyed what they created. Loved that their baked goods weren’t insanely sweet! They were busy the three times we went, but service didn’t suffer.

The ambience of this place is pretty cool in the fact that it has a bookstore attached and it has some pretty good baked goods, but the service was rude It felt like I was annoying them and the food I feel like I just paid for a grilled McChicken in crêpe form for $12. The cashier asked me if I wanted my soup heated up in a microwave. If I’m hearing the word microwave for a $6 cup of soup, it’s a turnoff I can heat up can of soup in the microwave at home.

Delicious lunch! Had the harvest salad, peanut butter cookie, and a cappuccino. Peaceful atmosphere.

Also, I am shocked by the religious bigotry that individuals have expressed in their reviews of this cafe. Absolutely shameful.

Keep shining your light, Roots Cafe! ❤️
