Social Profile:

Root Down is grounded in story and character. As a vision from diverse backgrounds, the riff behind the name pays homage to the late and great Jimmy Smith, a legendary 1960’s jazz musician. His live song and album, recorded in 1972 entitled Root Down (And Get It) speaks to the ability of returning to the root or “one” chord of the song. Melodic, raw, vital, earthy. The Beastie Boys, taking their own spin on the tune made it funky, gritty and fresh in the album Ill Communication. Mirroring the song’s history, Root Down’s philosophy echoes these cords. We are imperfect but celebrate the flaws. Root Down’s ability to combine and complement a team is rooted in a foundational belief that each individual brings flavor, personality and strength

Locavore dishes with global flavors served in a hip eatery at Denver International Airport.

If this were outside of the airport, I would probably still give this 4.5 but for an airport, this is truly exceptional. Service was very friendly (Natasha is awesome) and fast. Breakfast sandwich was delicious! The only knock for us was against the breakfast burrito as the meat was sparse and instead of a tortilla, it was on a wrap style flatbread. Being from New Mexico, it didn’t pass as a burrito & would be less misleading if it was renamed “breakfast wrap”. Breakfast potatoes that came with both dishes were fantastic-flavorful and crispy and loved that they were a mixture of purple, white and sweet potatoes. Overall, highly recommend.

Many clearly marked vegan options and great service. The country fried tofu dish was was one of the better salads I’ve had while out to eat, though I wish I’d got the veggie burger. Nothing wrong with the salad, it’s just not what I was craving.

Root Down DIA serves surprisingly excellent salmon… yes, at an airport, where culinary expectations usually go to die. I ordered the beet salad with added salmon, and they absolutely nailed it. Flavorful, fresh, and suspiciously competent for a place located between gates and rolling suitcases.

10/10 would recommend!! Especially if you want a meal that makes you briefly forget you’re about to sit in a metal tube for several hours.

Amazing little hidden gem right in the center of terminal C. Food is fresh and light. Salads are made with everything but iceberg lettuce. Absolutely amazing. Eggs are real, light and fluffy. And they have real tea in silk bags. They have tables for 1 so I didn’t feel like I was eating alone. Windows are amazing. I forgot I was in an airport! 12/10 in every way. And Cami who works there… Amazing!!! Holy wow. Talk about amazing customer service, I felt like I was catching up with a friend from years past. <3

The server was awesome, super sweet with my little one. Although I wanted the lamb it came w chopped bacon that couldn’t be removed so I got the burger which was pretty good, even excellent for airport standards. I paid extra to get the sweet potato fries their special way which really was just hot honey. I’m not sure why the fries get rave reviews, I think the burger was way better.

Eating gluten free in airports is usually stressful, but Root Down at Denver Airport completely changed that for me. As someone with celiac disease, finding safe, good food while traveling is rare, and walking into Root Down honestly felt like I had died and gone to heaven.
The staff were fantastic from the start, friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely confident about celiac safety and cross contamination. They made ordering easy and stress free, which is priceless in an airport setting.
The food was outstanding. The avocado key lime pie was next level. It did not feel like airport food at all, more like a destination restaurant that just happens to be in a terminal.
Between the celiac friendly menu, amazing service, and food that actually excites you, Root Down sets the bar for airport dining. If you are passing through Denver, do yourself a favor and stop here. It turns travel days into something to look forward to.

What a pleasant, delicious, eclectic gem in concourse C. I’m so glad I was able to stop in at Rootdown! The food was amazing and the service was top notch! Cammy was my server and she was knowledgeable of the menu, made great recommendations, and was so thoughtful. I can’t say enough about her service! She was stellar and definitely matched the energy of the restaurant!

The atmosphere is so chill. Music was a vibe and they had some vintage decoration throughout the dining area. The staff were all very pleasant and seemed to enjoy working with one another.

I was able to enjoy the Pozole soup, Farro Salad and Sweet plantains. Each one was gluten free and vegetarian friendly. The soup was a bit spicy, but really good and hearty. I’ve never had avocado or radishes in a soup but it worked! The salad had a miso paste that lined the plate and brought a richness and fullness to every bite. The dressing had a smooth umami flavor and the fresh almonds gave the dish a crunch.

The sweet plantains Forget about it! They were cooked to perfection, tender, moist, and crispy on the outside. I wanted to take some to go but I knew that I wouldn’t be able to make it on the plane without dropping them. lol

The only thing I didn’t like about the restaurant was that I had to leave. Lol. & I wish I could have eaten more but Denver doesn’t allow you to smash like you want. The elevation curbs your appetite. (Boo!)

Other than that, this is a 10/10 recommend!

WOW who knew you could find REAL FOOD at the airport? We were shocked, amazed, and delighted all at once. It is rare to find an airport breakfast that rivals places like Snooze or First Watch. So if you get to travel out of DIA C Terminal…check this place out.

This was a great place to grab a meal during a long layover. I had “The Burger” with sweet potato fries. The burger was tasty, though overcooked. The sweet potato fries were good, and the curry fry sauce was a pleasant surprise! Overall, I would recommend this place.

If I see Root Down at an airport, my food decision is made. The fact that they have multiple solid vegan options automatically puts them at the top of my airport restaurant list.

Service is perfectly paced. They’re quick and efficient if you’re short on time, but if you’ve got a longer layover, you never feel rushed or pushed out. It’s a rare balance to find in an airport.

Plenty of comfortable table seating, a nice bar setup, and an atmosphere that feels way more relaxed than most airport spots. This is one of those places that actually makes a layover better instead of just tolerable.

Consistently a great stop at DEN.
