I had dinner here with a friend several weeks ago. I was skeptical because the reviews I had read were kinda mixed. I’m so glad we went because our dinner was wonderful. It wasn’t too crowded and the service was great. We started with the southern fried pimento cheese balls and they were to die for. My friend ordered the Chicken Alfredo. I will probably order that next time bc it was very good. I had the Salmon Gnocchi and it was perfect. I ordered the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake for desert. Amazing!!! Definitely give it a try next time you are in Franklin.

I took my mom out on a girl’s day, and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. the weather was nice, so we chose the outdoor patio, which filled up while we were there. Our server, Mei, handled everything very well, and was very sweet.

We ordered the pomegranate brussel sprouts appetizer, the fennel Caesar salad, tomato bisque, and the bumpkin burger. Presentation and taste were both excellent.

Overall, it was a good experience, with great atmosphere. Ask for Mei, she is awesome.

Restaurant looks nice and spacious inside with covered corner outdoor seatings. Food is pretty good but vegetable used to garnish the dishes was not very fresh. Service was also very good although the waitress brought a wrong appetizer at first and then she offered to take off the appetizer from our bill. We appreciated this attitude very much.

Good find on our way through the area. Food was good very pricing but was very low in supplies for most dishes. Executive chef was extremely sincere and did explain what was missing. Rest of the staff however mostly seemed rushed and unorganized (forgetting drink ordered, waitress greeting us then another coming much later to say he was now the server, etc). Venue was updated and very clean except our booth which was extremely wet on table top and floor under where water was still pooled a little. The soup was very good and spice selection, Burger was well cooked and beer had solid recommendations. Will return at a later date and re-review in future to see if changes around few areas. Overall, would recommend a stop and try of their offering.

Wonderful relaxed upscale dining experience.

Food was excellent. I had the lamb rack which was amazingly tender and rich in flavor with a fire sear on the outside. Potatoes were filling and smooth and the veggies added a palate refresh. Probably the best lamb I’ve had honestly.

My friends had fillet mignon which was great and had a nice rich heavier sauce on it and similar, but subdued, searing as my lamb. Local trout, excellent flavor and paired well with wild rice, not as heavy on the stomach which is nice, only critique was that it was a touch dry otherwise delicious. The burger had good texture and flavor though with the other more exciting dishes available it was a bit overshadowed.

Decor/atmosphere had a rich but inviting feel. Service was good. Pricing was reasonable, burger in high 10s, fish in high 20s, lamb in mid 30s, fillet in mid 40s. Overall a highly recommended stop for a more upscale experience in town.

absolutely incredible experience. we went there on father’s day and it was packed. but the staff was on top of it and we were quickly seated in the very nice outdoor patio. our server was great, and in spite of the rush we didn’t want for anything.
the food was… incredible. I had the grilled rack of lamb with fingerling potatoes, which was just unreal. I’d recommend this place to anyone, any time.

We were in town visiting a friend who suggested we try Root and Barrel. We were there for a late lunch on Saturday. We chose to sit outside because the music volume inside was too loud. Our young waitress took our order without writing it down. In my opinion a guest at a restaurant should not be practice for a server’s short term memory – do that on your own time, not on my dime.
As expected, she got our order wrong on several points, such as making a hamburger a bacon cheese burger. Frustratingly, each time a server came to our table, they left empty handed instead of removing our empty plates. We looked around and saw that this was the practice in the entire restaurant. Plates from a couple that left when we first arrived still had not been cleared (and still had not been cleared when we left well over an hour later.) Oddly enough, towards the end of our meal, when my husband went to go use the bathroom, all of the waitstaff were hanging our in the back room. (This may have been a shift change, but that does not excuse the uncleared tables for the solid hour before the shift change.)
The hamburgers were decent. The caesar salad, however, needed some work coming out absolutely drowned in dressing and choked with CYSCO industrial croutons and fake parmesan cheese. We also found the overall food to be salty. Needless to say, our local friend was disappointed and we would certainly not recommend it.

Good local farm to table food, nice ambience, and friendly, helpful service!

Especially recommend the pimento cheese appetizer… the short ribs entree is fantastic… and the carrot cake for dessert was delicious, moist, tasty – and the candied carrot chips area a delicious, crunchy touch. The selection of primarily local beers on tap is good too, along with a decent wine list and full bar.

Definitely a recommended stop in the area!

This restaurant a winner. Small but nice menu. Prices are excellent. The restaurant is immaculate & saw they received an “A” on their recent health inspection. They have a full bar and numerous specials on various days of the week. I had their chicken salad with almonds, cranberries & celery. Not your usually this was grilled – yum. Other items delicious. Franklin lucky to have this restaurant. Great out door seating.

I will say that this restaurant is exactly what it purports to be: a trendy pub-restaurant. The food was good, the service a little spotty once we decided to only have an appetizer, and the craft beer and cider selection was more limited than I thought when we walked in the door.
Decor was well appointed and clean.
