Great food. Fish fry the best in St Croix county. Some staff mia at times but mostly good workers. Need 2 people working bar and dining most of the time. Owners very friendly and real. Recommend stopping in.

ROOSTER’S ROADHOUSE – Where the vibes are local, the pita’s piping, and the burgers slap harder than Monday.

We were supposed to have a calm, simple evening, maybe grab some classic Midwest comfort food… until a meatloaf that looked like it had given up on life changed our fate. Flat. Bland. Disrespectful to cows everywhere. So we made a pivot and ended up at Rooster’s Roadhouse, where things took a sharp turn for the better.

You’ll spot this red beauty on the edge of New Richmond like a beacon of “you know it’s gonna be a good time.” Inside? Instantly vibey. The local crowd keeps this place alive and kickin’, and honestly, you’ll feel like you just got adopted into someone’s extended family.

We slid into bar seats like pros. Quick service, friendly bartender, drinks in hand (iced tea and soda for us boring legends), and the ordering began. Spotted something on the neon board that wasn’t even on the menu. Spinach artichoke dip with pita chips. That right there? Unreasonably good. Whoever decided to use crispy triangles of pita instead of regular chips deserves a Nobel Prize in flavor engineering.

My buddy went with the shrimp basket. Classic. Breaded shrimp, thick fries, and what looked like a seasoned tartar sauce remix. Dude was happy. Said it slapped. No complaints.

I had my eyes on the Philly cheesesteak… only to hear they were out. RIP, my tastebuds. But the cook personally came out to apologize, which was an unexpected W. So I called an audible and went for a burger, stacking it with lettuce, tomato, and those crispy fried onion spirals they call “haystacks.” Looked like art. Tasted like victory. I don’t even think I blinked while eating it. It was that damn good.

And the people? Pure Midwest energy. One local pulled my buddy aside for a pull-tab collab: “You put in $10, I’ll put in $10. We split the winnings.” Spoiler alert: There were no winnings. Just two people bonding over $20 worth of paper disappointment. But the laughs made it worth it.

Rooster’s isn’t just food and drinks either. It’s a full-blown Wisconsin playground. Slot machines, darts, beer pong arcade machine, and an actual dance floor with a full 2025 hoedown schedule. Ten bucks a person gets you a Sunday afternoon dance sesh. I don’t know if it’s lessons or just good old-fashioned foot stompin’, but it adds a whole extra layer to the charm.

TL;DR?
➡️ Atmosphere: Local, lively, and welcoming.
➡️ Food: Solid portions, wild flavor, and pita-based greatness.
➡️ Service: Speedy, personable, and above-and-beyond (shoutout to the cook).
➡️ Vibes: You’re either playing pull tabs, dancing, or making new friends. Or all three.
➡️ Final Verdict: Would meatloaf-dodge and return again. 10/10, Rooster’s.

The star of the show, of course, is the fish fry. Whether it’s golden-battered perch, flaky cod, each dish is expertly prepared to perfection. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursting with flavor, the fish fried or baked at the Red Rooster is nothing short of extraordinary.

Accompanying the main course are classic sides such as creamy coleslaw and home made tangy tartar sauce.

And let’s not forget about the ambiance. With its cozy décor and friendly staff, the Red Rooster feels like a home away from home. Whether you’re catching up with friends or enjoying a family dinner, you’ll feel right at ease in this charming Wisconsin gem.

So, if you’re craving a taste of the Midwest and a Friday night to remember, look no further than the Red Rooster. With its amazing fish fry and ever-changing potato specialties, it’s the perfect place to kick back, relax, and indulge in some good old-fashioned comfort food.

Drinks and Pool games at The Red Rooster with my Husband, David. My Grandparents, Bill & Bell Ward lived down the hill in Jewett in the home on the Willow River. I grew up living at my Grandparents every summer, every weekend, every school holiday’s until they passed in 1984. Wonderful memories in this area and the Fall Family who owned the Red Rooster and lived in the home behind. My Grandparents originally lived in the four square house on this property before they bought the home by the river. Spent alot of time with the Fall teenage kids and their parents Harry and Bev Fall who owned the Rooster. Bev was a great cook and Harry was behind the bar. My Father, Patrick Moore had a German Polka Band and played many times over the many years on the stage in the ballroom! We have had many weddings, reunions and family events here! When I look back on my upcoming 60th Birthday, this area of Jewett for the first 20+ years of my life was my HOME! I Love this Bar and I Love this little piece of heaven in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Wonderful Memories, we had a great time visiting today! Also, I LOVE the vibrant RED updated color on the outside of the building. It is the original red color of the Rooster and it looks awesome! ❤️

My husband ordered the Roadhouse Burger and I ordered the deep fried chicken sandwich. The food was good. The buns were so hard we couldn’t eat them. He really took away from the meal.

Good food . Fish was good, but the coleslaw was tasteless. Other than that, it was great.. Well, average. Not horrible. I’d go back, given the choices in the area.
