I am writing this review based on my first experience here. The inside of the restaurant is very nice and has a modern, clean look. I ordered the Greek Salad with chicken and received my salad quickly; it was delicious. The lady who waited on me was very nice and helpful. I will be back!

I was lucky enough to attend the friends and family opening at The Roost in Athens with my friend, and it did not disappoint! I ordered my go-to half Rooster sandwich with potato salad, just like I do at the Tyler location, and it tasted just as good as always.

My friend had the Turkey & Avocado Club with Roasted Red Pepper Gouda soup and loved it. I also grabbed a Buffalo Chicken Salad to-go for my wife, which she enjoyed. Excited to have The Roost closer to home. Next up, breakfast!

Atmosphere 4 stars explanation: It would be great if you fixed the fans/lights so that when the fans are on it doesn’t cause a flickering, strobe light effect, inside. It was like this back when the location was McAlister’s & is a much needed improvement.

Only gave the food 2 stars because i got full. It was not good. When we first got there we ordered the food and they have us our cups wich mine had a black mark inside, i cleaned it out myself and overlooked it. I went to the bathroom wich smelled terrible and made my stomach churn. We get our food and my chicken omelet was supposed to come with sour cream per the menu description, I told them it was missing the sour cream and they said that I had to request sour cream. My husband ordered the brisket omelet and they did not add his pico. They completely forgot our sides of potatoes and our toast came out so cold that we could not melt the butter. It took several minutes before anyone even noticed us trying to get their attention! We went ahead and ate anyways but we will not go back.

Was just okay. No offer, but chicken salad on both of our sandwiches was just okay. Shredded chicken. Kinda sweet. Ordered their Thai chicken salad sandwich on croissant. Few sprinkles of peanuts. Little drip of nothing sauce. No cilantro. Croissant was good though. Mine came on a metal tray versus everyone else’s coming on a plate. Crackers with my soup. The others was the Southwest chicken salad. Little sprinkle of seasoning. No jalapeno peppers or relish(?)- is the relish supposed to be Pico de Gallo? Theirs came on a plate with soup. But no crackers with soup. The Poblano pepper soup with Gouda was good. But tasted more like tomato soup. Large chunks of tomatoes in the soup.
Not consistent and chicken salad needs improvement. Get away from the sweet. Especially if your going to pair the salads with other flavors. Bigger pieces of chicken. Not shredded fine or blended like a store bought salad.
Will try other things another trip. See where this goes?

Food was pretty good, I got the ORIGINAL ROOST CHICKEN SALAD with ZESTY PASTA and a cinnamon roll covered in bacon. Cost about $18 for all. Service was okay, they didn’t really talk and didn’t like the wait to much, it took almost 20min for a sandwich to go?! And they weren’t even busy

I went in about a few days ago to get food with my wife and a family friend. The front lady was amazing, she was nice and kind and explained everything that was confusing perfectly. The food was great, the portions are definitely Texas portions. I met the owner when I was given a job interview by him. He came by the table greeted me with a nice kind smile. The place has a great atmosphere and great environment. Definitely recommending it to my friends and family!

Mediocre at best breakfast potatoes are just square french fries crispy bacon fills and taste like it’s been microwave. Chewy as hell floors are sticky and dirty. I don’t like seeing the Orkin man here walking around with his spray while I’m eating seem quite boring and quite empty here at 8:42 AM here’s what I would do. I would have a hot plate. I’d have crispy fresh bacon I would have skillet fried potatoes. I’d offer a pancake instead of toast and I’ve always said who the hell can’t fry egg ketchup seemed like it was a small portion in the end of a jug that tasted kind of sour no napkins on the table to begin with that just sucks sometimes I think when people try to save money, they just ruin it all…. other locations have out fresh lemon for your water and as a matter of fact, Athens water taste like bleach maybe you should consider a filter,,,,, most likely if there was some George Strait music playing in the Athens, Texas location you’d have people sitting around singing and having a good time….. just saying the fans felt nice and cool today….

Had high hopes for this place. Had their breakfast awhile back and it was good, so today I opted for a monte cristo sandwich. I was surprised when ordering from Door Dash the “plain” bread option— what I received is not simply a ‘misunderstanding’ on my part–why would it be asked if I wanted the bread “toasted” or “griddled” when it’s *universally known* that a monte cristo sandwich is deep fried but sometimes pan fried (key word being FRIED). Seems to me, a professional menu planner/cook/chef would know this is not a matter of “semantics” & wording does make a difference. I left the option on “plain” because it didn’t make sense to “toast” or “griddle” the bread since it’s a fried sandwich. This is what I got: a dreary ham and cheese on white bread, not fried, no “light” on the powdered sugar (another option, but an option that actually made sense—except it made no sense on my order, because there was none on there).

Won’t waste my money here again.

I am so glad we tried this place. The owner and staff are amazing! My husband got the Roost and was very pleased but how do you go wrong with brisket & egg on a burger? The pasta salad is perfect! Just the right blend of basil pesto with pine nuts, I was very pleased.

We tried the Candy Pecan cinnamon roll and oh my gosh guys, it’s crazy good! I’m hard to please when it comes to cinnamon rolls. This one is unique – it’s a light & crispy pastry with a wonderful cream-cheese buttercream which is perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. The crunchy candied pecans, oh my yeah we’ll be back

I’m super excited to find quality food in Athens and can’t wait to try the chicken salad we brought home for lunch tomorrow.

By the way, they have grab & go casseroles! Next time you need a quick dinner give their fresh take-home & warm dinners a try.
