Reviews
The vibe on the rooftop is immaculate: warm lighting, great energy, and that relaxed-but-upscale feel. Staff was genuinely understanding and easy to talk to, never rushed us and made the whole experience comfortable.
A solid spot for a night out when you want good drinks, good sushi-style plates, and a beautiful setting.
Rooftop is very nice, it has tables for 2 and for company of people. We’ve tried sushi, few cocktails and mochi on dessert, everything was tasty. I didn’t like mochi a lot though, I would try different dessert next time. There is also a good music and nice view on downtown.
That aside, once we got seated, everything improved. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly and attentive.
Food-wise:
• The shrimp dish was delicious, cooked just right.
• The variety of sushi was impressive — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated.
One of the best parts was the rooftop view of Chicago — a stunning atmosphere that adds a lot to the experience, especially in the evening.
Overall, a solid 4-star experience. Great food, wonderful ambiance, and service — just wish the front desk had been a little more welcoming from the start.
The food, though, is just okay. The sushi and small plates are fresh and nicely presented, but nothing really stands out or feels memorable, especially for the price. It’s good, just not impressive or worth going out of your way for if you’re expecting an exceptional meal. Portions also feel a bit small for what you’re paying.
Drinks are probably the safer bet here — cocktails are creative and pair well with the setting. Overall, I’d come back for the views and drinks, not the food. It’s more of a rooftop bar experience than a destination for great sushi.
Beautiful rooftop with indoor and outdoor dining. A few shaded areas with couches and high top seats. Great variety on happy with with bites and drinks.
Wagyu Sliders 10/10: Chefs kiss! Ordered per slider, trust me get at least 2!
Salmon Dry Miso: 10/10 great flavor and fresh
Brussels: 10/10 nice and crispy. Not soggy. Great flavor.
Will be back for great views, good and service any time!!
One tip: avoid the hotel’s valet service for dinner, as the $35 charge is significantly higher than others in the area.
During tanoshi hour, we had the lychee/elderflower martini and the market margarita. Oh bothhhhh of these were so good. 10/10. I’d order either of those again without question. For food we had the crispy okra, oyster trio, karaage chicken, and yellowtail jalapeño roll. All very good! The chicken was probably my favorite. Not the best karaage ever, but very tasty.
There are better (cheaper) options for HH in Chicago, but this was definitely a nice way to sample some of NOBU’s dishes without breaking the bank and enjoy the city views. It wouldn’t be my first pick for HH, but I’d certainly go back and try more dishes.
The rooftop restaurant has a more minimal menu than the main menu but it was a great experience. The Sashimi tasted fresh. The Wagyu presentation was beautiful! The star for me were the lamb chops. Absolutely delicious.
The cocktails were cold and mixed well. Definitely reserve if you’re going on a weekend possibly even happy hour.
