I ordered the Vietnamese fried rice cake with egg, which is supposed to be golden and crispy, but what I received was pale, soggy, and looked barely fried at all. The rice cakes were white and soft instead of crispy, and the texture was really off.
On top of that, the wait time was way too long for a dish that didn’t seem properly cooked. Overall, it was disappointing
Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this dish or coming back based on this experience.

Best banh trang tron in Cali. We have tried the other banh trang tron/snack places and this one is the best with great prices. They have all the varieties of banh trang tron, fish ball/beef balls, on top of that pha lau (organ beef stew) and chan ga ngan sa tat (chicken feet marinated in lime), bot chien (fried rice cake with egg). Everything we tried tasted great like back in Vietnam. The owner and staffs are really nice and attentive. The only con is that it gets really busy in the evening weekday and weekend so you might want to go earlier than that. Overall we highly recommend this place!

First time dining at Rong Choi and it definitely won’t be the last! The employees were super nice and welcoming, making us feel right at home as soon as we walked in. They took the time to explain the menu and made sure we were comfortable throughout the meal. The food was very good — fresh, flavorful, and made with care. It’s always a great feeling finding a place with both good food and genuinely kind people. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

First time coming here to try the Vietnamese snack but I got very bad experience with it. The food was not even good. The main thing I want to talk about is the health safety. It looked like they are doing something with the rice paper with their BAREHANDS. Yes, you are reading correctly. It’s “BAREHANDS.” They even put the rice paper on the floor. That’s DISGUSTING. In a food store, health safety should be the priority. Your health is at risk, folks. Don’t come to this store, folks.

Well, my intention was to support this small business and end up leaving a 5 star review. However, I feel scammed. I saw they posted on the Facebook marketplace what looked to be cooked tripe, so I got excited to go and get some from Rong Choi. The portions were so little that was only a few little cut pieces of the tripe and a whole lot of the sauce. I ate it with the chop sticks in 1 minute. $16+. Maybe because I’m not Vietnamese? Maybe the ran out. Either way. Not coming back.

I used to love this place a lot when it first opened, good food and friendly service. The food is still good, but unfortunately, I’ve experienced stomach issues every time I eat here recently. It’s happened consistently enough that I’m concerned about food safety.
Also, I called ahead to place a pickup order and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived after 20 minutes, but they hadn’t even started on it yet, which was really disappointing.
Hoping the restaurant can look into these issues. I really did like this place, but these experiences have made it hard to come back.
