TLDR: Amazing ambiance, incredible friendly service, rivaled only by the mind-tingling deliciousness of the homemade food. This wasn’t dining, this was a much more impact-full experience.
The ambiance made me feel like I was home, with elements of a living room, art gallery, Mom’s kitchen, 50’s cafe and mountain cabin. When one of the owners, Geordi, mentioned that all the food was homemade, I was surprised, because there were only two people that worked there as far as I could tell. Geordi was as friendly and kind as she was obviously passionate about her cafe. As I began to ask about the different food and drink options, Geordi knew each option intimately, making it very apparent that much thought had been put into each menu item. Since I was hankering for coffee, I decided to get a cup (a help-yourself style service, very nice!) It was then that the taste adventure began.
The coffee was an incredible blend, the likes of which I don’t commonly taste. Geordi explained that they get their coffee from a local roaster named Mango Tree. I was immediately blown away by the taste. I ordered the brisket sandwich and got a side of beans. The brisket was expertly smoked and very delicious. The beans were…award-worthy. An uncommonly sweet introduction that after the bacon-trimmed bridge gently gave way to a spicy chorus, only to be added upon by a smokey encore. I didn’t think it could get much better. I was wrong.
I decided, for dessert, I would try the homemade blueberry pie that had immediately caught my attention when I entered. Seeing as how this is a staple of american dessert, I am always dismayed when places do not get the balance of flavors right. This was so far from the case at this establishment. The savory soft crust and sweet and perfectly tart blueberry filling, mixed with the dollop of whipped cream put me on the verge of actual tears. When I sipped the coffee after a bite of the dessert, it made for a other-worldly experience that made my brain tingle. The unison of flavors throughout the meal showed a level of understanding of complimentary tastes that I have not experienced for some time. It could have been completely accidental, but I think not. I think it is just one of the many examples that made it clear that the owners of the Rolling Thunder Cloud Cafe have gone above and beyond to make this cafe not just an eatery, but an unforgettable dining experience. You. MUST. Go.

I didn’t get to try their food as I arrived just as they were closing, however, when my motorcycle failed to start the owner went out of her way to help me find someone to get me back on the road. Looking forward to getting there early enough to eat next time. I was also told they have scheduled motorcycle rides regularly from their place. Great folks.

What a cute spot in Guffey, Colorado. I had the pulled pork sandwich and the triple Berry pie a la mode, which were both delicious.
Owners are friendly, musical people. Go in and say hi, and at least try a dessert!

Very nice atmosphere, nice owners but the food is priced too high for what you will receive. As a café owner myself I expected higher quality of food with better taste. The Mac and Cheese was very dry and was more like a dry macaroni salad, sandwiches are small with a dab of slaw or potato salad, did not taste the pies. But I guess that’s what you receive when there is no other place to eat that’s open in Guffey

Super friendly mom & pop diner. Really good prices, great food. Plates were portioned well enough that it seemed just right, unlike most places that give you huge order sizes. Was super helpful when I asked where the closest gas station was, as well!

Nice, quaint little place with very friendly atmosphere. Smoked brisket is cooked on site with a smokey aroma everywhere. My friend and I both got the brisket sandwich (a tad rubbery in texture) with coleslaw, minus the bbq beans for which they were out of. My friend got a can of soda (no beer served here), and I got a coffee. The total bill for 2 brisket sandwiches on buns with coleslaw and 2 drinks was just over $30, an extremely over-inflated price for what it was. No hamburgers or cheeseburgers, no fries, just coleslaw & potato chips. Fast & friendly service, though, and that’s worth a star.

Food is great but the service is S-L-O-W. Told the waitress (co-owner) that we were ready to order … 10 minutes later she came back to take our orders. Was with a group of 10 people and it took more than 30 minutes for the last person (who was the first one to place his order) to be served.

Impeccable food and impeccable service. After a long day visiting with wolves at the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Foundation, we sure did work up an appetite. For dessert I ordered their triple chocolate pie. AMAZING. It is likely the best pie I’ve ever tasted. There’s also something about Guffey’s small town charm that just can’t be beat. As soon as you walk into the threshold of Rolling Thunder Cloud Cafe you are welcomed with the quaint comforts of a beautiful little community. Any time I am passing through Guffey I will also be sure to swing by.

The waitress came up to me and asked if I wanted a pickle in my son’s juice box. I said yes. Some really good juice tho. Also she brought out some fried toes for us to sample. This was my waitress, Sally.

We ordered the large vegetarian pizza. It was Loaded and weighed maybe 2 or 3 lbs if not more. We’ve been married 39 years and this pizza was a first for us! One slice and your done
