I had such a wonderful experience at RokuNana! The restaurant has a warm, stylish atmosphere, and the staff were genuinely attentive and welcoming from start to finish. The sushi was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor — you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. I came here several times for its delicious food and service!

After dinner, heading upstairs for drinks completely elevates the night — great cocktails, a cozy yet vibrant vibe, and the perfect setting to continue the conversation. It feels like two experiences in one: an exceptional Japanese dining spot and a hidden nightlife gem.

Highly recommend for date nights, celebrations, or just a fun night out in NYC! I will definitely come here more times in the future, really love this place!

If I could give 10 stars, I absolutely would! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Roku Nana served the best sushi I’ve had in a long time!!!Everything was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every bite tasted like true quality and care.

What made the experience even more special was our server, Seventeen. He was genuinely one of the nicest people I’ve encountered in a restaurant! Warm, attentive, and effortlessly professional. His service was flawless, making us feel welcomed and taken care of from start to finish.

Between the outstanding sushi and Seventeen’s amazing hospitality, this was an unforgettable dining experience. I will definitely be back and highly recommend Roku Nana to anyone looking for top-tier sushi and exceptional service! ✨

what a lovely hidden gem!

great service, great food, great ambiance (although i will say it was a bit too dark lighting-wise).

my sister & i shared the zucchini yakitori & miso sake kama appetizers
– zucchini yakitori: nothing special honestly, kind of just grilled zucchini on a skewer, but tasty nonetheless
– miso sake kama: beautifully buttery & fatty salmon! it was cooked to perfection & so flavorful!

we also split the dynamite roll, & sunburned roll for our entree
– dynamite roll: spicy tuna, avocado, topped with black peppered tuna, negi, sweet chili, & sriracha; loved the pepperiness of it, but i wished it was spicer. from the menu description (& the name), i thought it would be pretty spicy, but it was just a small kick. very delicious though!
– sunburned roll: tuna, yellowtail, avocado, & mango, topped with seared salmon, sea salt, & a tangy miso sauce with lemon zest; like the miso sake kama, so buttery & beautiful! the lemon & miso sauce really stood out in this one, i honestly couldn’t really taste the mango. but the avocado worked so well with the tuna & yellowtail, it just melted in your mouth!

my sister also got a lychee martini which was SO incredibly smooth.

they have some vegan, vegetarian, & gluten free options, but not too many, so make sure you look at the menu beforehand.

highly recommend !!

they also have an ADORABLE & cozy speakeasy upstairs with super cute cocktails, mocktails, & small snacks! i wish we knew about it beforehand, 100% coming back to try out those cocktails, they looked amazing.

Absolutely loved this restaurant and bar! The atmosphere is so chill and welcoming, and my friends and I really enjoyed our night here. The sushi rolls were fresh and flavorful, and the drinks were just as impressive. Definitely a place we’ll be coming back to!

Japanese food is one of my favourite cuisines and I have eaten a lot of it, good and bad. I wasn’t sure what to expect when we went but it ended up being the best meal of our whole trip. Every single thing we ate was perfect. The service was warm and welcoming and very efficient. I would recommend this to everyone visiting NYC or those in the area looking for a nice dinner spot.

Such a cozy little spot perfect to hide from this winter’s cold winds. Had a girls night dinner here and it was so fresh and refreshing.
Food was quick and delicious. Service was attentive. Definitely will be back.

I originally started coming to this restaurant because it was close to my place. What kept me coming back was the personal experience. When I mentioned my allergy, the sushi chef recognized me right away and we both realized we knew each other from another restaurant. That small moment made me feel remembered and welcomed, not just like another customer. The server was also from the same place, which made everything feel even more familiar. The food was really good and very similar, which is why I liked this place so much.

Recently, I visited a friend who just opened a café in Brooklyn and ended up at the original restaurant where I first met that sushi chef. When I asked about him, they told me he had left some time ago. Apparently, a regular customer recruited him to open a new restaurant, and he even brought the kitchen chef along.

That is when everything made sense. The reason everything at the new place felt so familiar is because the entire menu and concept were essentially replicated from the original restaurant. What makes it more complicated is that the recipes were not originally the sushi chef’s, they belonged to the original owner. So it feels like more than just a chef moving on to a new opportunity. It feels like the concept itself was carried over.

I still appreciate the chef’s talent and I genuinely enjoy the food, but it does not sit completely right knowing that a new restaurant was built by reproducing someone else’s work instead of creating something original. Hiring the chef, bringing staff, and recreating the same concept feels intentional rather than coincidental.

It is complicated because the food is still good, but knowing the story behind it definitely changes how it feels for me.

Wow what a lovely sushi spot! The food is amazing. Fresh fish and carefully curated flavors. The service was attentive, genuine and friendly. The vibes were so perfect – they had upbeat jazz music, the lighting was great perfect. I loved that it felt elevated without feeling too quiet or dark. I found myself commenting on how I really enjoyed the music they were playing.

The sautéed calamari: this was my favorite bite of the night. The combination of flavors and sauce, YUM!! The squid was perfectly tender. It’s a unique dish and done so well. 🙂

I loved their sushi rice. Also, I would say all of the rolls had a balanced ratio of rice, fish with a perfect bite size.

My favorite roll we got was the hot sexy Jackie. The sauce they paired with the fresh chunks of fish and avocado made this so refreshing!!

I found this place through my Blackbird app and it looked cool, but unfortunately my dinner experience turned out really bad. While eating the sushi, I kept biting into small hard particles that felt like sand or tiny rocks. Out of the three pieces I ate, two had these particles, which made it very uncomfortable and concerning. When I tried to return the dish, I was told it couldn’t be taken back because I had already eaten three pieces, even though the issue happened in most of what I ate.

I also ordered the salmon appetizer with yuzu sauce and capers. The sauce itself was actually very good, but the salmon was slimy and did not taste fresh at all.

Our table was taken care of by a server named Eason, who at first tried to explain the situation and spoke with the sushi chef, which I appreciated. However, the sushi chef insisted there was nothing wrong with the food he made, which was disappointing and made the situation worse.

Overall, the lack of acknowledgment and the food quality issues really ruined the experience. Think twice before coming here. I’m not sure if I would come back.
