Sashimi salad was fresh and well seasoned, it kicked off our dinner with a high note. But sadly, the main dishes disappointed. The noodle is one star, sluggish, little beef and costs 23$. I think the real cost of the noodle is $2, real cheap. Chicken nugget is below the average of a japanese restaurant. The grilled fish and salmon over rice are regular i would say. I don’t think i will come back again.

Great place to get Japanese food. We managed to get a last minute reservation for 5 on a Saturday evening so that was great. I love how many options they have. They have every Japanese dish I love. I got the Deluxe Meshi which had everything I love about Japanese rice bowls: It has salmon, eel, AND fish eggs. We also got the Yakiniku Don (grilled beef rice bowl), Chicken Nanban (basically chicken Karaage with a different sauce), and Agedashi Tofu. And the food was delicious. The portions for the rice bowls were also bigger than I expected so they were very filling.
Service was good. I didn’t feel like we waited too long for our food. We also came rather close to closing but they still let us order, so I appreciate that. And when the store was closing, they politely made it known to us.
The inside feels like a typical Japanese restaurant with black seats and dark wood. We sat in a booth which fit all 5 of us comfortably

Total Score: 7.39
Bathroom: N/A
Didn’t use the bathroom
Customer Service: 3.5/5
A bit hard to grab but overall very friendly
Ambiance: 4.25/5
Very contemporary Japanese bar vibes. Dark and mysterious lowkey
Food: 4.25/5
Portions were huge one app and one entree was enough for the two of us. Chicken namban was sooo juicy. And ebi mayo cheese modanyaki was yummmm. A bit too much sauce lowkey, but too sweet.
Wow: 0/1
Normal Malaysian restaurant

Surprisingly delicious and high-quality! I highly recommend trying the Hamachi Jalapeño Carpaccio — it’s truly tasty. All the other dishes, except for the tuna sashimi/nigiri, are excellent as well.

1STAR
Very disappointed!
+ Nice plate presentations
– Pricey n SMALL portions!
– Overall dishes are TOO sweet, TOO salty, LACKING aroma n flavors.
– Sushi rice has got the texture but LACKING aroma, flavors n taste.
– Sashimi is moist but LACKING flavors n taste. Too pricey for something that tastes like nothing!
– Dish with pork has HARDLY any meat n cost too much!
⚠️ Caution: men’s restroom faucet, HOT water is TOO HOT n will BURN your hands!

Update 07/24:
Tried Yakisoba and sashimi set. Worth trying! Sashimi is fresh and huge.
———————————
The deluxe meshi is a must try! Okonomiyaki is authentic as well. Nigiris are probably below the average, will not recommend.

Nice little Japanese izakaya in downtown Sunnyvale, just off of Murphy street. Pretty big selection of Japanese favorites from sushi & sashimi to rice bowls and curry. They also have a nice selection of Japanese sake and beer. They close a bit early, so be sure to come by earlier in the evening.

We had an extremely disappointing experience at this Japanese food restaurant, making it easily the worst one we’ve ever visited. The food was excessively salty, and the Yakisoba ingredients were overly exaggerated. Additionally, every dish we ordered was soaked in excessive oil and salt, leaving us craving a refreshing break with some water, but none was provided throughout our meal. Even the fried food lacked the necessary dipping sauce, which was a major letdown. To make matters worse, despite the scorching weather outside, the air conditioner was not turned on inside the restaurant, making it unbearably stuffy and hot. As a result, our dining experience was far from enjoyable.

I visited Rokko around 5:30pm on Friday and it was a good experience. Not super busy but as time went on more people showed up. I was impressed with the food and portions of it. I had a double entree platter which consisted of California rolls and salted salmon. Everything about it was great. Although my only caveat was that the salted salmon was a bit saltier than I expected so I had to add lemon to reduce the salt. Overall, it was a great dining experience. I love the atmosphere as well as the interior design, which was well thought out and reminded me of those Japanese restaurants seen in travel videos, and on YouTube. Also, the staff was very attentive and we’re seeing constantly roaming around attending to customers.
Next I come back I’ll have try to their Okonomiyaki.
