Stopped in on a casual. Grabbed a few pints (Guinness) and being that I was in deep Pennsylvania I had to indulge in the beloved cheese steak sandwich that everyone in Pennsylvania knows they cannot go without. It exceeded expectations. Well done .
Grand location
Highly recommend the cheese steak. However be careful attending this location.
First I was not expecting a limited pre event menu. Mu husband ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries, I had the ahi tuna sandwich with sweet potato fries. The cheeseburger was very small not much bigger than a McDonald’s burger, my husband said it was tasty. My ahi tuna sandwich was good, my sweet potato fries were over cooked. (Burnt edges).
The place is huge and was not crazy busy. Our waitress disappeared after giving us our meal, we had to flag down a nearby server to order a 2nd drink. He went to find our server then came back to tell us she would be over in a minute. Instead, he finally brought our drink. When it was time for the check, again our server no where in sight, the second server went to get our check and came back and said our server was busy on the other side of the restaurant, he could not pull up our check, so we waited. So we left there pretty disappointed.
Nevertheless, other food was delicious and definitely worth the visit. The Carolina BBQ burger was incredibly juicy, enveloped with melted pepper jack cheese and topped with bacon, Carolina BBQ sauce, and deep-fried onions on a pretzel roll. The fries were fresh, hot, and very tasty. A large pickle spear completed the dish.
The Diamond City salad was also wonderful, with fresh apples, pears, mandarin oranges, craisins, candied walnuts, and Swiss cheese served over mixed Greens with a Caribbean mango vinaigrette.
The restaurant also has a wide selection of beer and wine, and I would recommend the yard’s Philthy IPA, which was very smooth and not as bitter as most in that category.
The atmosphere was light, the service prompt, and our server was very kind and friendly. Although it probably flourishes during lunch hours, getting there early (between 6 and 7 p.m.) would probably be a wise choice.
