An absolute gem in Red Lion!

Rocoto is hands-down one of our favorite local spots — we go there at least every other week! The staff are some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet, and the food is always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Their hibachi bowls are my personal favorite, my husband swears by the burrito bowls and burritos, and our daughter absolutely loves their Birria tacos — she says they’re the best she’s ever had! I recently tried the salmon dish, and it was excellent as well.

Another great thing to know is that they also cater! They catered for my daughter’s lacrosse banquet last year, and it was phenomenal — everyone was so happy with the food and couldn’t stop talking about how delicious everything was.

If you’re in the York or Red Lion area and looking for a clean, welcoming environment with exquisite flavors and outstanding service, do yourself a favor and stop by Rocoto. You won’t be disappointed!

We really enjoyed our lunch. Lomo saltado, was delicious. Friendly atmosphere. I love to support local businesses. This is a family business and the food is made with love and passion. They have a good menu and worked with my friend who is gluten and dairy free. They also have a large side room for parties. The owner will help with a menu that fits your needs. That was great to know if you want to have a family gathering.

We went with a group of 12 on recommendations. On a regular basus, there does not appear to have table service. The group did get table service but the servers were not dedicated to us, meaning, the young ladies also worked the front counter. Service was good, though.
The food was wonderful; the nachos are really good but had no hot peppers.

The restaurant is very clean and clearly run with pride, which I appreciate. Unfortunately, our visit had a few disappointments. We ordered two beef empanadas and one chicken, but received the reverse: two chicken and one beef. While the chicken filling itself was flavorful and well-seasoned, the dough was overly sweet, which doesn’t align with the traditional savory style of empanadas.

The chicken sandwich with French fries felt more like something from a fast food spot than a sit-down restaurant. The nachos were fine, solid enough, but nothing that would draw me back on their own.

I will say the chicken inside the empanadas was delicious, and it makes me think we may need to try one of the three authentic Peruvian entrées on the menu next time to get a better sense of what they can really do. I understand that being in York may require offering a more Americanized, fast food–style menu, but it does seem to dilute the Peruvian dining experience.

One of my biggest disappointments was with the service model. Ordering is done at the counter, where you are prompted to tip 20%, 22%, or 25% before even receiving food. For a setup where you also bus your own table, this feels more like fast food than full service, and the tipping expectation is out of place.

I truly want to love this place. I respect and applaud the family for what they’ve built and the growth they’ve achieved, but my hope is that future visits highlight more of the authentic Peruvian flavors and less of the fast food feel.

Our family chose Rocoto’s to host our baby shower and we were not disappointed! Everyone raved about the food (specifically the empanadas and shrimp tacos were a huge hit)! The staff were incredible – helpful, polite, and accommodating. Their attention to detail made the day a breeze. And the space was gorgeous! Highly recommend if you have an event coming up to consider Rocoto’s!

My first time there was for their FB BBQ specials. The food was the delicious and the staff was nice but there was a couple misunderstandings. One, they thought I’m sharing my platter with my friend when both her and I clearly ordered our own. She did end up getting her own platter about 10-15 min later. Two, they seated me and gave me menus so I thought everything was done at the table like most restaurants. But it wasn’t, you technically have to order your food at the counter FIRST then be seated. So I’m like… why not explain it to me as I was waiting on my friend? Other than that, which was all minor. I’d like to go back for the other menu items. Their speciality coffee was delicious and worth the price.

This place is impeccable! Outstanding. The food is fresh and delicious. They offer daily lunch and dinner specials that are not always part of the menu. They have a large banquet room you can host events in and they use it for specials like Valentine’s Day. Outside seating is also available for nice days. Place is very well kept. The owner comes out to each table individually strikes up conversations with his patrons. Look no further for Mexican and Peruvian food.

Wow, what a delight. I had seen the place driving past and finally made it in. I was pleased. The place was clean and open. You order your food, pay and get a coaster that blinks when your food is ready. We had 2 huge burritos, nachos, an empanada and 2 large drinks for $35. I will definitely be going back.

Went back for lunch on March 10th. Great experience. The young man at the counter was extremely nice and helpful. He checked on us often and had a great attitude and was fun to chat with. The food was great. All of the staff were nice, helpful and smiling. I really enjoy this place.

go here, eat well, enjoy the good company and atmosphere a family owned restaurant can provide. i know the food is good here that’s why i come back time after time after time
update:
Chef made chili the other day, it’s a full on win. the beef flavor comes thru but still pairs well with the vegetables in the base. the kidney beans were tender and well distributed. broth was the right consistency to round out the whole experience.
the seasoning.
