A Hidden Gem for Authentic Peruvian Flavors !
Rockoto Peruvian Cuisine in South San Francisco is a fantastic spot for delicious, authentic Peruvian food and a great variety of drinks. The dishes are flavorful and well‑portioned, and the cocktails—especially the pisco‑based ones—perfectly complement the meal. It has a cozy, welcoming vibe that makes it an easy place to recommend and a spot you’ll want to return to.

The interior is unassuming, but the food and service are incredible!

All of our food was beautifully presented and delicious. I ordered the Mixta salad and could taste the quality of the ingredients. The salmon was perfectly flaky, and the salad tasted fresh. The dressing was well balanced – enough to impart flavor but not overwhelming.

Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She even brought over free drink samples for new mixed drinks that aren’t on the menu yet. We felt really well cared for when we were at Rockoto!

They were also easily able to accommodate our party of 7. My only critique is that it was sometimes hard to hear other people at our table because the acoustics of the restaurant made all of the sounds echo-y. But it wasn’t a big deal and we all had a good time.

Thanks for hosting us for a great dinner!

The food here is delicious! We’ve eaten here several times. The ceviches have fresh fish with delicate balances of flavors, their cooked fishes and meats are cooked perfectly. My eating partner can’t get enough of their aǰi de gallina.
I’ve been to many different peruvian places around the US and this one is my top 3 in the Bay Area for price for what you get.

We came here looking for a nice, quaint local restaurant. Stumbled on this gem and was not disappointed. Came in for a late lunch and had the place to ourselves. The owner was there and made us feel very welcome. Had great suggestions for meal choices and definitely hit the mark. Food was outstanding! Pricing was pretty much in line with what was expected for the quality and the location. Would definitely consider going back if the opportunity presents itself.

The food is good. However, their menu is limited so we each ordered our own dishes and the only thing we shared was empanadas (mushroom and chicken). I ordered the lomo Saltado, honey ordered his Churrasco Criollo, mother had pollo peruana and my brother in law ordered tallarin verde with chicken. Of course, we also tried their pisco sour. It wasn’t bad, however puerto 27 and limon was better. I would come back though.

We came back. We came and ordered: jalea, aji de gallina, chaufa combo, salmon a lo machado, and lomo saltado. Everything was good and the salmon a lo machado is very different. Don’t recall seeing anything like it. We also ordered pisco sour. Not as strong as limon and puerto 27 but good.. We would definitely come back.

I really wanted to like this restaurant. My wife and I spent ~$100 on lunch and two drinks here. We both had paella ($32). We initially assumed the paella serving might be sharable based on the price but it was not large enough for that. Food was fine. If value was better I would probably rate the restaurant higher. The menus printed on paper and overall ambiance just was not what corresponded to the price. There was a somewhat unpleasant smell (like it wasn’t cleaned too). Pisco sour was good, my wife’s sangria was not terrible but not great. Service was quite good and very attentive.

Searched for New and Hot restaurants in South San Francisco and this came up as number 1, so we went and tried it.
We ordered the Anticuchos, Rockoto trio, Churrasco Criollo, Salmon a Lo Macho, Paella Carretillero, Tres Leche and for cocktails we had Sangria, Pisco Sour and Pina Rosada.
Everything was great and delicious!

The food server is always very stingy with the wine pour! The other server is very good. I told the waiter to give a good pour unlike the last time he waited on me. Never bought me any water either. He needs to fired!
