Had some trouble coming in and parking, but that was my fault since I’m unfamiliar with the layout of the buildings and township. No biggie. It was def a cold night that night and was hoping to have a quick sit down dinner of a slice or two and a drink before heading out again and their sign outside did say “pizza by the slice”.
Arriving inside, at approx 10:25pm or so, it looked like the staff were in the process of breaking down and cleaning up. I was hoping to dine-in as well, but the restaurant is set up for carry out only. No biggie, these were my own expectations and I adapt well so I’m fine with eating in my car. And it’s late so I don’t fault them for breaking down either. All are fine in my book.
The attendant approached me and greeted me to take my order. I asked for any available slices, seeing as their rotating pizza displace case was empty, and was told only two slices were left – cheese and pepperoni.
Seeing the prices for each one compared to the size, and I thought it was a bit pricy. I was also hoping for a “slice special” like in NYC, where it’s pretty common/routine to see a slice and a drink for $5 or whatever and was disappointed to see they had none. Each slice and drink were sold a la carte – so the pepperoni and cheese slice were sold at like $4/each and a $1.50 for the pop so $10 for both slices and drink. Not the most expensive meal out there but the slices weren’t particularly appetizing. I was disappointed, to be honest.
Still hungry, I chose the pepperoni and sprite.
Here is where I am uncertain of there was miscommunication or otherwise. I was under the impression that slice would be heated or at least was somewhat warm (it had been in a box with the other slice prior to my arrival) and speaking to the attendant, I thought he would be warming it. Again, he was super friendly and answered my other questions. I believed I confirmed with him that I’d want it heated at minimum, and I thought he’d do so and even offered me a sticker from a nearby tray. Again, nice guy.
However, when I got the box and pop and drove away to a seperate parking lot to eat it (and take the picture), I was pretty disappointed to find the slice unheated. Perhaps it may have tasted better or more authentic if it was warmed up but finding myself munching on cold pizza slice in my cold car (not the establishments fault here if they’re not dine-in) and finding it slightly salty though a nice thin crust, it was an uphill battle for me to enjoy the slice. It left me wanting, and not quite scratching that itch I had for satisfying the craving I’ve had for a while. Rocket Slice is a bit out of the way for me so unsure if or when I may give them another shot but it didn’t leave me wanting to seek them out to try again.
Don’t want to fault the attendant since he was nice and kind and happy to attend to me and I wonder if there was miscommunication between us in warming the pizza up, so don’t wanna fault him if it wasn’t his fault but I def did want it heated and recall saying as such.
All the same, didn’t finish the slice and went to chipotle afterwards because despite the cravings for a NYC, I was still hungry.
Review written 12/17/2025. They couldn’t find my online order and it wasn’t ready even though online Toast ordering system said the order was ready. Also they couldn’t understand my name and made me show it on screen and repeat it many times. Evidently I have a very confusing name. Lol.
Pizza was sitting lukewarm in display with congealed cheese. Not fresh
Then they tried to make me show proof of the “delivery” or uber or DoorDash etc order and I explained it’s my own order, not for anyone else
Beyond the food, the atmosphere and service played a huge role in my rating. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive, making me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. The space was clean, cozy, and had a warm, inviting vibe that made it perfect for both casual meals and small gatherings. Orders came out quickly, and everything was served hot and fresh. It’s clear this place takes pride in what they do, and that passion shows in every aspect of the dining experience.
Corporate provided a refund and told me that is not how the pizza should be made and that the employee should have offered me a refund on the spot. I will give this location another try.
I ordered a marinara sausage pizza that barely had any marinara sauce on it. I peeled back multiple slices to show the employee. I was told that is the amount of sauce that they put on it and that next time I can order extra sauce at no cost. She gave me a container of cold marinara to dip into the pizza.
I also had ordered cheese fries but they don’t use your typical nacho cheese sauce so I am not a fan of the sauce that they use at all.
