Let me tell you something; this place is fantastic. I’m a simple guy, so I just got a large pork with white rice and it was delicious. Out of this world. Best I’ve had in a while. The service was quick and my leftovers tasted just as good as it was fresh. Will be coming back next time I’m in town :).

I learned that this new spot was under new management. Previously I went, but the flavors weren’t all that great. I went the first time under this new management and food was very good. I even recommended it to all my coworkers. We all went one day and ordered a variety of dishes from this place to go. Let me tell you that the food was extremely salty oh my God!! It’s was unbearable to eat. How could it be that every single meat that was ordered was salty from the pork chops, to the chicken, the liver, chicharrones, this is not ok. We literally threw everything in the trash. I was like maybe it was that the cook may have had an off day IDk. So I decided to give it another try, boy was the food salty yet again. Management please address this, you will definitely be losing lots of clients with food this salty. The level of saltiness is not normal. Thanks

Unsanitary and unacceptable experience.
I visited Tropical Café (9005 E Adamo Dr, Tampa, FL 33619) on Sunday, October 26, 2025, around 3:00 PM. The food itself was okay, but when it came time to pay, the cashier started opening all our sealed food containers with her bare hands and long nails, after handling cash.
I politely asked her not to touch the food, but she ignored me and continued, talking directly over the open containers without a mask. At that point, I had to walk outside because I couldn’t stand watching that level of carelessness. My husband stayed to finish paying and witnessed everything.
This is completely unsanitary and violates basic food safety practices. A simple marker or label could be used to identify containers — instead, she was touching and exposing customers’ food. I have already filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation (DBPR) so this issue is properly inspected.
Until they improve their hygiene and train their staff on food safety, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.

Great cuban coffee! Breakfast sandwiches and cafeteria meal selections are awesome!
Usually very busy in the mornings. I like this place but the employees have 2 speeds, slow and stop. Could use a bit of organization and hustle.

Swung by here with my family on the way to Orlando. Right off the bat I noticed it was full of Spanish-speaking locals so I knew it was going to be good and authentic. The place delivered! A huge variety of options, savory plates and generous portions. My family of four ate their fill (plus had leftovers to take away) and we sample four different Latin canned drinks (the Yerbe Mate was my favorite, the Kola Champagne was my little one’s favorite) and the total bill was only $36! I highly recommend you try this place out in your road trip instead of settling for generic franchises or fast food.

So it was hard to communicate because their primary language is Spanish. I’m talking thinking they understood me because she was smiling lol. So this place is getting a four out of five not because of the language barrier but because the food wasn’t all that. There were a few that understood English better so I was able to order. I got oxtails, red beans, beans and rice and some plantain mash. I’m not a big plantain person but I got to just to try it. I will say this took two or three bites and threw it away. It was giving me lumpy mashed potatoes vibes. The oxtails was my first time trying it. It has a tomatoey flavor but bland. The best thing about the plate was the yellow beans and rice. Yum. Then I got the lunch special the black beans and rice with pulled pork. Delicious pork. Beans and rice were good too but again kinda bland. I got roasted potatoes which has a miniscule hint of butter or garlic otherwise bland. I think with my family being from Louisiana and transplanting in California I’m used to flavor and salt. So for that it’s okay. But I also ordered a beef empanada . First one ever. It was good! So if I go back I’m definitely getting empanadas, pulled pork and the yellow rice. The staff’s kindness was better than the food. I prefer Jamaican oxtail so far. I love Florida

GOOD VALUE & great tasting! First time here! Service was pretty quick. Small size of pork, yellow rice & potatoes was plenty and overall good value. Accept Apple Pay which is great! Still have to touch the screen to select tip or no tip! I would eat here again!
