This is my first time being at Carilion for an appointment. From the elevator, I could smell the good food from the cafe. The service at the cafe is excellent! The staff is polite and attentive, going above and beyond to provide a wonderful eating experience. Congratulations to the whole team! I was really impressed by the cook, Alexandra Porter, who made us the best Riverside club sandwiches. Alexandra was very knowledgeable about the food and provided fantastic suggestions. Truly excellent service. The service here is exceptional. The staff genuinely cares about their patients. They were attentive, courteous, and pleasant, making us feel at home. The service was perfect from beginning to end. Our service was courteous and helpful, ensuring that our whole meal experience was flawless. We would come back only for the service, and even if we didn’t have an appointment, I would definitely come back for the food. If you ever go to Riverside for an appointment, please check out the cafe and look for Alexandra Porter, who made the best Riverside club and the chicken caprese for my husband.

The lady with the cat tattoo on her left forearm tried to keep my change. She didn’t give me the correct change back. So please be careful. Make sure you get a recipe and correct change back. I’ve also had a family member say the same thing happened to her.

I am visiting the Riverside Cafe for the third time. Unfortunately, my previous experience here last month was subpar, particularly during my wife’s surgery. Upon my return last week to procure lunches, I observed that the entire staff had been replaced. Regrettably, an elderly lady exhibited rude behavior towards an Asian woman preparing sandwiches, displaying a notable lack of professionalism. Her disparaging remarks about the Asian woman were audible from across the line. Yesterday, following my wife’s ultrasound, we revisited the Riverside Cafe, only to witness the elderly lady’s continued rudeness towards the Asian woman. I placed an order for chicken caprese on sourdough bread, which the Asian woman handled with kindness and professionalism. When inquired about her day, she expressed her eagerness to conclude her shift. Fortunately, the food has been delightful, and Alexandra, the Filipino woman who prepared my chicken caprese, demonstrated exceptional kindness and friendliness at the Riverside Cafe.

Very pleasantly surprised. This Cafe is located inside the Carilion medical facility at 3 Riverside. I figured it would be gross…because, I reckoned it would be basic hospital food. I was wrong. I ordered a large coffee and a personal cheese pizza after my doctor appointment. The coffee was out of this world good, the pizza was only about 6 bucks and big enough for 2 people….It was delicious. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Minus one star because the coffee station (actually, the whole set up) was a bit confusing…but, ended up being worth it. Large coffee and 7″ cheese pizza was about 8 bucks. Definitely recommend.

Better food and service than expected and always open o the public. This is not the average bland hospital cafeteria. It is set up like a food court with a few different shops. The hot Italian sub and club sandwich were both good. The Route 11 chips were cheaper than at the grocery store.

I work across the street from this cafe and I get my lunch here occasionally. The entree of today was chipotle chicken and they had two sides, beans and rice. I ordered just the sides, and those were really delicious. It definitely boosted my work productivity! Thank you guys!
