First time to Machias during our 3 week vacation/tour of Maine. Our lunch here did not disappoint. We ordered a crab roll, hamburger and onion rings. All were good but especially the crab roll and onion rings. We really appreciated the ice cream treats for our three dogs as this stand is VERY dog friendly.

I ate the monster. It was everything I ever wanted in a lobster roll, and more of it.
Very friendly, quick service. They even have books for while you wait, including Lil Nas X’s C is for Country for kids, and they are explicitly pet friendly.
I also ordered popcorn haddock, which mild, fluffy and buttery, but my dog ended up snatching most of it when I wasn’t looking. He ate it really fast, so I think he liked it.
The onion rings were perfection. Sweet, juicy, just the right amount of crispy batter, evenly coating each ring. The pickle chips were surprisingly crisp.

My partner and I stopped here when we were driving through on a trip. The food was delicious and good portions for the price. Most importantly, the folks who run the place are wonderful, friendly, and welcoming. I definitely recommend dropping by!!

Amazing. Gay. Delicious. That’s how I would describe my experience at Riverside Take-Out. The guys “bears” are super nice, the establishment screams kindness and if you look around at all the signs you can tell they are for the community — and it’s nice to see people looking out for not only their own but everyone. The place is fun, bright, and exudes happiness. They are very green and environment friendly. Now the food — the food was so delicious that, we first had a lobster roll and had to come back 30 minutes later to try a scallop and crab roll. Everything was top notch, including their freshly made tartar sauce.

My boyfriend and I want to come back every single time we are in DownEast Maine. We need to try the whole menu.

Riverside Take-Out — thank you for being an example of a great establishment with delicious food that welcomes all no matter gender, race, orientation.

This place is so cute I love it. It’s where beach attitude meets roadside stand in Machias. Totally inclusive vibe with a sweetheart running the joint. Totally eclectic. You can get sandwiches and, of course, a lobster roll. All the food was good and it comes out relatively quickly. Open your mouth and you will enjoy every bite.

100% following all CDC and state guidelines, they’ve done an incredible job. Masked while cooking, the whole nine yards. They also have the best lobster rolls and fried fish! Have always loved their food, they are passionate, authentic, and a landmark in Machias- I always stop when in town.

I had a great experience stopping into this small roadside eatery with a very kind gentleman working the window. The food was delicious and the service was prompt. I couldn’t ask for anything better than what was displayed going here.

OMG OMG — what an absolute treasure this place is! Never expected to find such a conscientious, socially-responsible road side fish shack in Machias. Such a pleasant surprise!

We came on Thursday and they were closed, so we drove 45 minutes today to have lunch and my goodness, it was worth every red cent and more. (Check the hours on their website.)

The fish & chips were divine. (Best french fries ever!) Also, the petite haddock sandwich (a smaller version of the signature monster haddock sandwich) was fabulous: perfectly-breaded, tender and served with tartar and a wedge of lemon. Homemade onion rings are a MUST.

Food is served quickly, deliciously and simply — the trifecta of love for a foodie. It feels SO good to eat good food and support a business that cares.

5-stars on all fronts.

I know they aren’t selling fried food at the moment, but I ordered the organic salad with the regular lobster amount with homemade blueberry dressing.. it was fantastic! Good portion too! The owners are super friendly. Cool place. Doggie friendly

OMG how I have missed this monster haddock burger. It still amazes me. It was so yummy. Was saddened to see they weren’t doing the homemade onion rings this year. Those were the best. Hope they decide to add them back to the menu. They are very pet friendly. They offer free water for your furbaby and also they will give you a doggie ice cream with a bone in it.
