Traveling up 23, we looked online for something on our way, saw that the Riverside Restaurant had good reviews and thought we’d give it a try! It’s a humble little place with scattered tables around the room, simple decor, a TV, and most of the tables seemed to be filled with the locals. We both had the special of the day, a sloppy joe, french fries, and coleslaw. Everything was tasty, service was fairly quick, and we were back on the road before we knew it. A real mom and pop style place. Try it, you’ll like it!

The pork tenderloin sandwich had been recommended so when I had the opportunity to stop in for lunch, that’s what I had to have. Very good sandwich – the pork is thin, but huge and had to be folded over to come close to fitting on the bun. A must try if you’re passing through Piketon.

The only thing that was said to us was “sit wherever you want” as we sat there for 10 minutes. We had to get-up-and-get our own menu. The ladies there said they’ve been there for over 20 years. And by looking at the place, you can tell, there has been no renovations or cleaning. I believe the locals knows how this place is
So you’ll get no complaints from them. But somebody coming in to visit, they may need to change their attitude.
And quit, making people wait to make something as simple as breakfast food. I will not be back there. And will not recommend this place.

In the many years that I had lived nearby I always thought about stopping into this roadside diner. I’d never heard a bad thing about it and never was there a day that I drove by that the parking lot didn’t have at least a 4-5 cars.
Unfortunately, we picked the first day of Ohio deer season to try this location.
There is plenty of parking unless the crowd is in oversized trucks hauling trailers with side-by-sides. Inside there is plenty of seating; we got there before the late risers after that the location reached capacity very quickly.
The service, as far as getting coffee, was pretty steady and never did our cups get near to empty. The service, for getting our food, was a bit long, but without looking I’d bet they only had one person in the kitchen. The value was pretty on point considering what you get. I’ve attached the menu so you can judge for yourselves.

We waited for almost 45 minutes just for simple food while literally every one was being served around us. We literally watched people come in after us order, receive their food, eat their food and leave before we even got ours. The restaurant is so dirty looking and our server barely acknowledged us. Run don’t walk away from this place!
