Everything was great except the fish, was over cooked hard and dry, green shrimp excellent, hush puppy great, just wished they had beer, no alcohol.

Riverside is overall a good restaurant I’ve been several times I think the first time I sat down and eight was a few weeks ago. The food was good. It came out on time. I ordered crispy and it came out crispy. The waitress was nice and friendly, but she went to the back to a table and stayed back there talking to some other patrons and we could barely get her attention for things that we need, but it really didn’t bother me a lot. I just think that she should be attentive to all customers. I do recommend this restaurant highly although the last time we ordered a carry out, it was supposed to be crispy and it wasn’t crispy at all. I started to return my food but I didn’t wanna go through the hassle and the portions seemed off for like $14 but I would go back.

Nope I will trust my co-workers word from now on. Absolutely the worst fish camp. Overpriced and the Oysters were just dried up and more breading and wasn’t but 5 in it. The Catfish wasn’t real but Swai Fish and that only came in 1 piece. The green shrimp was skimpy and all the food tastes the same. I didn’t even feel welcomed when I walked in. I saw that the locals were probably longtimers that’s been eating there for years. No people of color in sight. Do Not Go Here. Captain Pete’s in Belmont are great and Cotton’s Seafood is good But this place here leave it for their kind And why did she put sour cream with a sweet potato. I really love diversity but again the vibe was wayyyyy off.

I’m not sure what happened to this place. It used to be my all time favorite place to get seafood but it has declined drastically in the last few years. It use to be a solid fish camp with great flounder and shrimp and has turned recently into more like a Long John Silvers. We use to drive an hour just to go but I won’t be doing that any longer. I’m so sad to see what the quality of food has turned into.

If you are looking for good seafood in Gaston County, go here… Yes, there will be a wait if you get there after 6 pm. The food is very good, the service is quick and the atmosphere is quirky. Imagine a starter ranch type home that morphed into an eatery. I am not saying this as a negative, only that it is not the mainstream uber modernism that you see in restaurant design. The focus is the food and what deliciousness it is !
We got there early because the week before we got there after 6 pm and it was packed. People were sharking the large lot looking for a space to park. Going early and by early I mean, 5ish, we still had to had to look for a space but found one on the first pass. The restaurant does have really large booths for big parties in the back. We sat next to one. They look like if you get in the middle of the bench, you can only hope that someone has Purell because 6 people will have to get up to let you out to wash your hands. In looks like a great way to corral children though.
Our food came out 15 mins after ordering. It can only assume that the cooks are constantly frying up everything on the menu because I doubt the food is sitting around under a hot lamp with the crowds there. I got the large fried shrimp, and it was really good. The food was piled up and made me feel ok about the price. I have had better seafood, but not this far from the ocean. The Man got the filet flounder and shrimp. We both agreed we liked and will go back. The waitress kept us hydrated as we powered through. The drinks were never more than half empty and a good half/half blend.
What we didn’t like was the rushed feeling. I understand the management wants to get the people fed, paid and out so that the next group can sit down. However, its tacky to bring the check while people are still eating, and you can visually see them still eating. Also, don’t offer sweet potatoes that are the size of a meatball. Next time, I will just get fries.

This Seafood is really so good, it takes me back to my childhood days if anybody remembers Lynnwood fish camp on New Hope Road. The staff makes you feel like you’re at home even if it’s your first time or your 15th time there. If you want a good deal for two people get the two for $27 meal. This is so much fish catfish shrimp perch or chicken and Flounder along with baked potato or fries or what are the options you want for your side. All of this just for $27. I checked around and the other Fish Camps do not even come close to having something on their menu at this price if you were to order two small orders of Purge or flounder it will cost you well over 32 to $33 at the other Fish Camps

Y’all. The portions are wildly large and the food is cheap and delicious. Do come.

We like their food besides the slaw. That’s the one thing we don’t like. It seems to have changed from long ago. It’s too coarse, too sweet and too much pepper. My mom and I both agree on that. The seafood however, is the reason we come back.
