I had to try this New Mexican restaurant. I’m from Texas and love Mexican food. Chips and salsa are an important part of a Mexican dinner. With their chips and salsa being homemade, my expectations were high. The chips were over fried with no salt. The mild red salsa had little flavor and no heat. Their salsa verde was much better with more heat and flavor.

My wife had two very good items, a chorizo taco and short rib empanada. They were quite good. Had the chile relleno. I always try them at a new restaurant to see if I will like the place. They were a good item, but didn’t don’t taste like a traditional chile relleno. It was very stuffed with a tasty filling, but the relleno itself couldn’t be tasted. I guess that this restaurant being the “New “Mexican style, it wasn’t supposed to be like what I am used to. I just like traditional Tex Mex more.

It is an attractive restaurant with a nice bar, but it is not be our go to place.

I tried this restaurant on my lunch break and it was really delicious. The margarita was authentic and not overly sweet which is what I was looking for! And I tried a single taco which was also delicious I will definitely back to try more of their dishes. I also had Hennessy as my bartender and she was really sweet and amazing such a cool personality she has!

We had a great first visit at this restaurant! The tacos were great and I highly recommend the prickly pear margarita. The atmosphere was cool but the lighting was a bit bright to start – it was lowered as the night went on which was a better vibe. Our server Nick was extremely friendly and helpful! We will definitely return!

Elevated Mexican Cuisine. If you haven’t been yet, you need to go tonight. My wife and I had the Esquites to start (it’s Mexican Street Corn off the cob sooooo good) then tried a mix of their specialty tacos and a jalepeno margarita and a regular margarita. Plus the coconut tres leche for desert. It was anmazing, sweet annd creamy.

All of the tacos were great. For an example the El Cochino (roasted pork belly with a tamarind glaze) was insane good. This isn’t your typical place. Super friendly staff. Great service, the margaritas were not overly sweet like you sometimes get. Perfect balance. Service was great. Atmosphere is relaxed, rustic, yet just modern enough. Great experience can’t wait to go back again.

It’s love at first bite! My wife and I are regulars at the downtown location but it’s a bit of a drive coming from the Palms West area. We are so happy a new location came closer to home and after visiting for the first time, we couldn’t be happier. The Wellington location is absolutely fantastic from the ambiance and atmosphere, the staff and the food.

While it’s the same ownership as downtown, it seems the food preparation, presentation and taste are much better. Our server Stephanie was on point! She checked on us frequently, engaged in brief small talk, was very personable and an overall delight. She certainly put our experience there over the top. Looking around at other staff and customers, that level of service wasn’t isolated to just our table.

The mild salsa was delicious and the house made hot sauces were fire both in flavor and heat! It’s hard to get these right but the octopus, pork belly and mushroom tacos were prepared and cooked to absolute perfection! I’m so happy for this location to be close by as we have found our new local taco place. Can’t wait to come back time and time again!

Thanks again Stephanie, you were superb and a great asset to Wellington!

This place has fallen off a cliff, and it’s embarrassing. I used to come here regularly, but Rivales Wellington is now a perfect example of how to run a restaurant straight into the ground.

We walked into an almost completely empty restaurant—always a red flag—and somehow the service was still atrocious. As the hostess was seating us, the bartender (who was apparently supposed to be our server, who ended up being the “manager”) literally started flailing her arms in protest, clearly signaling she didn’t want to serve us. Completely unprofessional and uncomfortable. The hostess had to step in and serve us instead. To top it off, the first glass placed on our table still had someone else’s lipstick on it. Disgusting.

They blatantly advertise a $5 happy hour on the tables, but once our appetizers arrived, we were suddenly told the special only applies at the bar and that the price was actually $12. That’s not a misunderstanding—that’s false advertising. If it doesn’t apply, don’t plaster it all over the tables.

The food was just as pathetic. My tacos were barely warm, and the burrito was missing multiple ingredients clearly listed on the menu—no cheese, no tomatoes, no onions. Just a bland, sad wrap of nothing. Zero flavor, zero effort.

Service? Nonexistent. Our “server” vanished repeatedly to gossip with other employees. It honestly felt like the staff was more focused on their own little party in the kitchen than on the single table they had to take care of—us.

When we spoke to the so-called manager, she offered nothing but excuses and passed the blame to the owners. She had no authority, no accountability, and no interest in fixing the situation. She wouldn’t even honor the price they themselves advertised.

They’ve officially lost my business. Considering we were the only table in the entire restaurant, I’m not surprised. If this is how they operate, I’d be shocked if Rivales Wellington survives another year.

Our 1st, but not our last time ! Excellent fresh tacos and burritos. The guacamole was also fresh and excellent and the service was fast and friendly.
I’d like to suggest a more calming and soothing color on the wall with some big plants to give done warmth and some art work . The gray on the walls is really somber.
Otherwise we enjoyed our lunch.
