This place is a hidden gem in El Cajon, CA. I’ve lived 1.5 blocks from this place for 2.5 years and never knew it was in the neighborhood until today.
I ordered a child’s meal just to try out the food. Those were the best rolled tacos that I’ve ever eaten! The rice, beans, salad, and agua frescas looked appetizing and tasted very fresh. This first visit was pleasant indeed. ✔️
The manager and staff treated me so well that I knew that I would return soon!

Delicious, classic San Diego Mexican food. Slightly off the main boulevard so you have to look for it a bit. Great food and generous portions.

How do you put jalapeños in pico and not make it known? I ordered carne asada burritos for myself and my kids and asked what they had in them never did they mention jalapeños or it was spicy. My kids don’t like spicy at all and needless to say they didn’t eat the burritos and now I will be dealing with stomach issues for the next day or 2 because I can’t tolerate jalapeños

It is one of the best authentic mexican places in San Diego County. It’s not fancy, just great food and service. Reminds of the small taco shops I have eaten at in Mexico. If you want great food, this is the place.

Rita’s had a **Extra Lite Menu”**.
I have never seen a Mexican food restaurant that offered alternative choices. Rita’s also has a pleasant atmosphere, is very clean with very nice waitresses.

Great for healthy Mexican food options. You can get the more traditional Mex food here also, if you want. They have fresh options. It’s great. If you have a special diet, try them out. They always accommodated my mom who had medical needs and a very special diet. I liked the old location better. The new one is so small it’s better for take-out.

This place had delicious food which means great chef! They didn’t skimp on guac. Brought chips and salsa to the table without having to ask 🙂 the server/cashier so friendly and welcoming! I recommend this place highly to anyone who wants to start or end their day right! No alcohol here yet. She said its coming soon 🙂 My favorite place to buy mexican food by far!

Went to Rita’s because of her generosity to the Lakeside community. What a wonderful surprise discovery! Ordered 2 breakfast burritos and a carne asada burrito. All three were generously filled, great flavor and service with a smile. THANK YOU!!!
Burritos are in our tummies, sorry no pics…

Just finished eating our 1st order from Ritas! Oh man! I have lived in SD and El Cajon my whole life and haven’t had better Mexican food. We live very close to this place and never tried it until now. I’ve been missing out. I’ll be going back for sure. I loved the cheese enchilada. It wasn’t rubbery but nice smooth melted cheese. The sauce didn’t taste like the same canned stuff every body else uses. Lots of fresh lettuce and tomatoes and tons of options to add on to your food. The rolled tacos were tender and lots of meat. You don’t chip a tooth eating the ends! My husband had one of the mini Carne Asada tacos and love it as well. Beans were tasty and fresh, lots of cheese on top. Our delivery was fast, and everything was packed very well for travel. I like that they wrapped the taco from the taco, enchilada plate separately so it didn’t get soggy in the sauce. The container with the sauce was wrapped in saran wrap to prevent spills. Very clever. Hot sauce was awesome both the red and the green,
I’m I making you hungry yet? You need to try this place, really!!!
