Jussi bought a Large almost $6.50 Custard at Rita’s in Rahway NJ where this is what I received! Unlike what I’ve always received. I was told that the owner has the employees weighing 4oz and placed in a large cup as the employees were over filling. I don’t expect 16oz of Custard for $6.50 but certainly not what I received. Last time at Rita’s for sure! I understand inflation but this is ridiculous!

I really do not like the flavor cotton candy. It tastes like sugar water. I asked for the cherry flavor it was the same. The intensity of the flavors are better in the “Real Italian Icee sold on the streets of NYC and in the Pizza shops. Rita’s is overrated in my opinion. I am not impressed at all. I had the privilege of going to College in NY Little Italy and the taste and quality is better than Rita’s. NJ and Philly. You can have Rita’s.

Update: I came back to this location couple weeks after my original review and they still don’t have the coconut cream flavor. So after this time anytime I was in the area I actually called the store and they still don’t have it. They are operating the business without all the flavors that they are supposed to have. I call and they don’t have it ever. I have adjusted my ratings accordingly. I’m not wasting any more time with this location.

Saturday, August 30, 2025 I returned to the site to get more Rita’s before the end of the season. The young lady who helped me today was the same woman from the incident a couple of months ago. She was very professional. She was very kind and it invoked me to tell her that I own up to my part of the mishap before. I played a part in not being clear and assuming they knew what I wanted them to do. So. I apologize for that and I just think that this is important to post because we’re all human. We’re all learning and we should all give each other. Grace. I changed my review to a five star.

In hindsight, I could have handled my part better by clearly communicating beforehand which coupon I intended on using therefore minimizing missteps.

I had a disheartening experience today. The young woman who took my order used the wrong reward in my app. When I explained her error, another worker told me I needed to take it up with the corporate office. I explained that she was making their mistake, my problem. She eventually huffed and corrected the issue. Had the 2nd woman been kinder, I would have worked with them to correct the issue.

Today I informed the girl working that I had a severe nut allergy, specifically asking her to wash her hands after the person in front of me ordered something with nuts. Her hands were not washed. I had an allergy attack.

I’ve been coming to this Rita’s ever since I was little girl, and honestly this place has been the most consistent with service and flavor ! Their vanilla custard in the Gelatis, always tastes the most fresh and authentic. My favorite flavor is their cherry, it’s always remained delicious through the years.
Parking is tricky since, they’re located on a corner. During the summer there will always be a HUGE Line and you’ll have to park on the side street. But I promise you it’s worth it!
